Anne Gros (from Domaine Anne Gros in Vosne-Romanée) and Jean-Paul Tollot (of Tollot-Beaut in Chorey-lès-Beaune), paired together in life and wine, then discoverd specialness in Minervois, a hilly zone between Toulouse and Montpellier. Working with Rhône grapes (this wine blends 40% Grenache with 20% Carignan, 20% Cinsault and 20% Syrah), all from a single walled vineyard ensconced by wild thyme, rosemary and pine trees, Les Fontanilles is magically delicious. Layered and complex, with a gritty sensibility, the wine shows roasted herbs, smoke, barnyard, dark red fruits, white stones, bright acidity and medium+ tannins that make for a serious wine with tons of personality, all with a certain Burgundian elegance.
