Vin Chicago: 90 Points
(7/2026) The Vinet brothers mind 35-year-old Melon vines across 30 hectares in the commune of La Haie-Fouassière, within this extremely Atlantic-influenced region of the western Loire Valley. Soils of micaschist, gneiss and amphobolite conspire to make a classic rendition here in a wet, throwback vintage. Grapes were picked in the Muscadet before September rains and made a successful, if low-yielding vintage. After spending 7-10 months on its fine lees in glass-lined cement tank to add a dash of texture to a dry white wine with plenty of energy. Fresh salted green apples, pithy citrus fruit, a whisper of gunflint and an everpresent dose of minerality. A direct, vital, uncomplicated style of wine to serve chilly alongside shellfish!
