(1/25/2022) Lots of red plum and blackberry-like fruit as well as peppery herb, leather, and some floral notes emerge from the 2019 Gigondas Classique, a wonderfully balanced, silky, impossible to resist Gigondas. I love the overall balance here, and while I don’t think it’s going to be the longest lived Gigondas, it is just loaded with charm and character. Plan to drink bottles any time over the coming decade. Maturity: 2022 - 2032.

(1/2023) Dark ruby-red. Spice- and mineral-tinged cherry and dark berries on the incisive nose, along with building floral and garrigue nuances. Smooth and fleshy on the palate, offering pliant bitter cherry, mulberry, spicecake and floral pastille flavors tightening up and becoming spicier through the back half. Gently chewy tannins build through a long, smoky finish that strongly repeats the cherry and spice notes. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2034.
