What We Think
Vin Chicago: 92 Points
(6/2025) Drinking beautifully now, the 2002 Louis Moreau 1er Cru bottling from Moreau has everything that a Chablis lover would want. Racy adidiy, chalky and seabed minerality, all framed with a medium body and nice weight. The long, mouthwatering finish instantly brings you back for sip after sip.
What Critics Think
Decanter : 92 Points
(10/16/2023) Generous and ripe on the palate, with notes of white peach fruit cut with citrus acidity. Although a tank sample, there is plenty to show that this will develop well and be a fine example of Vaillons. Louis is the sixth generation of the Moreau family, based in Beine since 1814. Their plot of Vaillons was planted in 1945 and covers 4ha. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2029.
Burghound : 91 Points
(10/2024) A touch of reduction blurs the nuance of the markedly more floral-suffused nose that reveals additional notes of shellfish and just sliced citrus. The sleek, well-detailed and more refined middleweight flavors aren't as powerful or rich yet I like the balance and overall sense of harmony. This understated effort is a Vaillons of finesse.
Wine Spectator : 90 Points
(6/10/2024) Expressive and succulent, offering peach, yellow plum, honeysuckle and light citrus flavors, with green herb and mineral hints lurking underneath. Balanced and open, showing fine length. Drink now. 644 cases made.
