What Critics Think

John Gilman : 93 Points

(5/1/2026) The Palo Blanco cuvée from Envínate is made from centenarian Listán Blanco braided vines grown up in the black volcanic mountain soils in Tenerife. The 2024 version again needs a bit of aeration to blossom, but once it opens up the wine delivers a superb bouquet of tart pear, raw almond, volcanic minerality, a touch of iodine, white flowers and a hint of oak from the large foudres in which the wine is aged. On the palate the wine is bright, vibrant and full-bodied, with a great core of fruit, superb mineral drive, zesty volcanic acids and excellent balance on the long, complex and precise finish. This is a superb wine that drinks well out of the blocks, but has more to give if tucked away in the cellar for five years or more. Drink between 2026-2050.

Wine Advocate : 98 Points

(11/13/2025) It fermented in concrete without temperature control, and then most of the wine matured in foudre and the rest in 350-liter used barrels. The year was quite homogeneous in the zone for the whites, they got very good yields and balanced wines. The palate is stunning - chalky but with elegance. The roots from the centenary cordon trenzado vines seem to have extracted all the minerality from the soils, and the wine is eminently stony. Drink Date: 2025 - 2033.

James Suckling : 96 Points

(7/15/2026) The nose here brings saline, like brine, with a touch of grapefruit and a wet rope-like aroma. The palate is equally saline and absorbing, with brilliant linear acidity and an incredible saline finish. From extremely old vines trained in cordon trenzado, a unique form of braided trellising in the northern part of Tenerife. This ferments in concrete tanks and ages in 2500-liter foudre. Exceptional. Drink or hold.
