Vin Chicago: 92 Points
(6/2026) Indiana native Erik Miller has been going strong in Sonoma for over 20 years, and besides great Zinfandel and Cabernet, he recently surprised us with this Russian River Valley Chardonnay. From a coastal vineyard planted in 1984 to sandy loam soils, it was considered outlandishly southerly in Sonoma at the time. Concrete and French oak is utilized in fermentation, with aging in 20-30% new French oak. The wine needs no malolactic conversion, and is deftly balanced, with lemon curd, white peach, mango essence - but loads of enlivening minerality tied inside its impressive core - with heaps of dry extract, length and no excess. A high-level bottling of broad appeal.
