(1/2025) In the Languedoc region of southern France, roughly 50 kilometers south of the famed walled village of Carcassonne, the tiny family-run property of La Closerie Des Lys is bottling one of the best-value Pinot Noirs in all of France. Sourced from organically farmed Pinot Noir grapes, growing at high elevation, this producer bottles an earthy, light red-fruited Pinot Noir that tastes like a $25 Bourgogne Rouge. Lifted, very well balanced, and impressively long, this is a delicious wine at the table with fish, chicken, or braised dishes.
