What Critics Think
Decanter : 94 Points
(7/23/2025) This blend is sourced from both Napa (52%) and Sonoma (48%), and includes a touch of the Italian variety Aglianico, grown in St. Helena. Fourth-generation vintner Steve Tonella believes it contributes a firm tannic backbone and adds lift and length to the wine. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for 16 months in 50% new French oak, the wine is wonderfully aromatic and richly layered, offering notes of blackberry, black cherry, graphite, and dark salted chocolate, wrapped in fragrant, well-integrated oak spice. Cigar box and tobacco notes weave themselves around the fruit core, while the tannins are muscular and firm, scented with a savoury, tobacco-like character. Altogether, the wine is balanced, fruit-driven, and impressively complex, with a lovely sense of lift. Drink now or over the next 5–8 years with confidence. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2035.
