(2/2026) The outstanding Champages of Nicolas Maillart are imported by Kermit Lynch. In his notes on Maillart's stunning bubblies, Kermit notes that he hadn't added a new producer to his portfolio since 2006 - he was just waiting to find the right one! Crafted from Premier and Grand Cru fruit, this wine blends 58% Pinot Noir with 31% Chardonnay and 11% Meunier. As with all of his Champagnes, Nicolas raises this wine in wood and this specific batch of 'Platine' spent 10 months in both 228 liter barriques and 3000 liter foudres. Disgorged in November of 2023, with a dosage of 2.5 grams per liter, you'd never guess this was an Extra Brut, given it's generous and joyous nature. Look for baked orchard and citrus fruits, honey, leesy richness, and an overtly forward amount of deliciousness, finishing with electric minerality. Wonderful!
