What We Think
Vin Chicago: 93 Points
(6/2026) It's been seven long years since this top-shelf Verdicchio graced our shelves. Far too long! Genre-bending, in this ripe vintage it wears a style that nestles between high-end Soave and Grand Cru Chablis. Textural, with lillies, Ataulfo mango, salted quince, dried pear, fennel bulb and rocky minerality - it's a complete wine with plus intensity and length. Wow!
What Critics Think
Decanter : 94 Points
(2/5/2023) San Paolo Riserva is well known for its restraint. In 2020, a generous vintage, it persists on a lime peel character, with sage, spring flower freshness and assertive youthfulness. Bone-dry on the attack, with firm acidity as expected from a great Verdicchio, it's then tightly woven with fruit in a chalky, mineral finish. This is a wine you have to wait for, which I like! From sandstone and limestone soil at 400m, this Verdicchio is fermented with indigenous yeast in concrete then aged in big oak vessels. Drinking Window: 2023 - 2040.
