What We Think
Vin Chicago: 90+ Points
(6/2025) Native to the region of Bierzo, Godello is one of the best-kept secrets in the world of Spanish whites. Grown on steep slopes between 500-700 meters in elevation, this specific bottling is a blend of 80% Godello and 20% Dona Blanca. Raised in stainless steel with four months of batonnage for added texture, the wine in the glass has a beautiful golden yellow hue with a tinge of green. Notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, and white peach are present on the palate with savory tastes of fennel fronds and salt following through on the long finish. Fans of Albarino and Chardonnay on the more mineral side will have no trouble making the jump to this and will be even more impressed with its capacity to age. A lively, fresh, and very approachable wine that shows its versatility with food due to its bright acidity and strong mineral backbone. Try it!
