(4/18/2024) Sourced from head-trained, dry-farmed vines planted in 1981 in the east-facing hills above Cupertino, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Luchessi Vineyard is an elegant and poised wine that harkens back to another era of California Cabernet. It has aromas of pipe tobacco, coffee grounds and mulberries. Medium-bodied and refined on the palate with silky, fine tannins and a pleasing acid structure, this wonderfully fresh and understated showing could use a handful of years in the cellar and should age gracefully beyond that. Drink Date: 2028 - 2038.

(10/2024) Coming from a head-trained, dry-farmed, 1981-planted site, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Luchessi Vineyard Impresses with its super-refined, polished tannins that elegantly dance across the palate. Dark-fruited and mouth-filling, I love the way it deftly balances richness and lightness-density and ease. Very piney and juniper- laden, it oozes sexy blue fruit, cigar box and graphite, running an ultra-marathon through the iodine-soaked finish, What class. The oak here, a mix of French and a touch of American, is perfectly judged. Old-school Cabernet lovers will delight. This is a beautiful wine that calls back to a different era. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2038.
