(4/18/2024) Part of the "Heritage Series" from Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Staiger Vineyard includes 3% Merlot and was sourced from vines planted in 1973 outside Boulder Creek. The nose opens with woodsy, rustic aromas of singed cedar, graphite-dried thyme and charcoal embers. The palate is medium-bodied, supple and elegant, lined with a lush, chocolaty richness on the finish. This is an old-school style of Cabernet that will delight readers seeking a new-release wine that is both approachable and age-worthy.
