Our Score
(7/2019) Yannick Pacquet crafts this brilliant wine from his family's one-third of a hectare plot in the high elevation, limestone-soiled "Vers Cras" vineyard. Annual productionl is a mere 90 to 100 cases! How to describe this profound white Burgundy? Utterly unctuous and seductively delicious are a good start. This youthful and pure expression of Chardonnay is immediately distinctive, beautifully expressing soprano-themed notes of chalk and white rock minerals. Crisp red apple, Meyer lemon, orange creme, white peach, vanilla, creme brulee and allspice flavors sit atop a densely packed, seductively creamy texture. As is the case with great 1er Cru Puligny-Montrachet or Meursault, the oak and primary fruit flavors will fold into the wine over time, creating deeper, more complex flavors. This decadent Burgundy will only gain in complexity in coming years!
