90 Our Score (6/2020) An homage to the Cabernet Franc of Loire, France, arguably the best region in the world for that particular grape. Lukas Van Loggerenberg is dedicated to making wine that reminds you of all the old-world characteristics, while having a certain rowdy attitude that is unique all in itself. Starting off with a LOUD nose of bell pepper, raspberry, violets and crushed gravel, which makes the brain think of Loire, before realizing you should be giving it the respect Devon Valley, Stellenbosch deserves. Concentrated flavors of red fruit, flowers and minerality on the palette reaffirms a sweltering vintage that many winemakers found challenging. Medium bodied, fantastic acidity and a very gentle finish. Aged in french barrels, this wine is a very small production with only 9 barrels produced. Unique, well-made wines like this do not come around very often and if they do they certainly don't stay on the shelf very long so you'll want to grab one quickly.
95 Tim Atkin "Lukas van Loggerenberg is a kind and gentle giant who makes wines that combine elegance, precision and sheer pleasure. This delicious Cabernet Franc comes from three farms in the Polkadraai Hills and is a grassy, delicately articulated marvel. Violet and lead pencil aromas segue into a fresh, nuanced, subtly wooded palate. 2020-2028"

If you are not familiar with the area, best to use GPS or some online directions because our store is a bit tricky to find!
