Whitcraft Winery "Pence Ranch Clone 459" Sta Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2018
Color: Red
Country/State: California
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Sub-Region: Sta. Rita Hills
Region: Central Coast
These tiny-batch, organically farmed and featherweight Pinots from Drake Whitcraft posess incredible aromatic intensity, and have turned positively culty in recent years - but are long a Vin Chicago staff favorite.
94 Wine Enthusiast (5/1/2020) "Very light in the glass, this wine explodes on the nose with aromas of freshly plucked raspberry, strawberry and cranberry along with wet sidewalk minerality and hints of sagebrush and pepper dust. The fruity qualities are more reserved on the palate, where fresh hibiscus and white-pepper flavors ride a tense structure, leading toward a cherry paste and sumac finish."
94 Decanter (8/6/2019) "Whitcraft's Pence Ranch "Dijon Clone 459" Pinot Noir is impressively lightweight and complex in the 2018 vintage. The nose exudes the subtle barnyard, hay-like aromas this site/clone combination seems to consistently give off. The palate again packs an incredible amount of texture and flavour into a very narrow bandwidth, and the finish is both toasty and spice-driven. Drinking Window 2019 - 2029"

Our store is on Old Skokie Road which is the frontage road on the west side of Rt. 41. We are 400 yards south of Deerfield Rd/Central Avenue. If you know where Williams Ski & Patio or Rick's Auto Body are located, we're on the same street; just about a few hundred yards to the south. If you are not familiar with the area, best to use GPS or some online directions because our store is a bit tricky to find!
