Bodegas Breca "Breca" Calatayud Garnacha 2017

Email
Varietal: Garnacha
Sub-Region: Calatayud
Region: Aragon
Color: Red
Country/State: Spain
91 Vinous, Josh Raynolds (11/2020) "Lurid ruby. Aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, potpourri and candied licorice are complemented by smoky mineral and oak spice nuances that emerge with air. Juicy, expansive black raspberry and cherry-vanilla flavors put on weight with aeration while retaining a surprisingly graceful touch. Supple tannins lend grip to a long, spice-laced finish that echoes the floral note. Raised for 18 months in 500- and 600-liter French oak casks. Drinking window: 2021 - 2025."
92 James Suckling (11/2/2020) "Fresh, vivid blackberries and blueberries. Dark chocolate, too. Full-bodied, tight and chewy with fine tannins that blend in the wine nicely. Drink or hold."
91 Wine Spectator (10/15/2020) "This red is ripe and generous. A rich, firm texture carries plum and currant flavors, with notes of mocha, loamy earth and smoke. Well-integrated tannins give this backbone, while lively acidity imparts balance. Drink now through 2024. 18,000 cases made, 13,500 cases imported."
93 Jeb Dunnuck (10/21/2020) "All old vine Garnacha from the Calatayud region of Spain, the 2017 Breca was all destemmed and brought up in larger French oak barrels. It's another head turner offering rocking red and blue fruits, melted licorice, peppery herbs, and spicy, earth-like aromas and flavors. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and wonderfully textured, it could cost twice the price and still be a good value. Buy a case and enjoy bottles over the coming 3-5 years. This is a killer wine. Maturity: 2020 - 2025."

If you are not familiar with the area, best to use GPS or some online directions because our store is a bit tricky to find!
