91+ Our Score (4/2019) This totally unique white comes from a small vineyard owned by an acquaintance of Pieter Walser, the mad genius behind BLANKbottle. As part of the sourcing contract, Peter produces a few barrels of wine each year for the vineyard owner's personal consumption. Turns out that two barrels per year is too much for the owner to consume and the vintages began to back up. Pieter bought some back, and we are thrilled to have been able to get our hands on a few cases of this beautifully aged 2010 vintage! A blend of primarily Riesling with smatterings of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, it was whole bunch pressed and then aged for a year in neutral French oak. How has this nine year old wine aged? AMAZINGLY! Opening with a laserlike brightness, it is fresh and elemental with incredible length that plays out on the palate with a toasty, pastry-like element. The alcohol level is a powerful 15.5%, though you'd never guess it was that high. With aeration, riper tropical fruit and exotic, waxy macademia nut richness emerges. This will be an exciting, singular experience for our favorite wine geeks. Not to be missed!

Our store is on Old Skokie Road which is the frontage road on the west side of Rt. 41. We are 400 yards south of Deerfield Rd/Central Avenue. If you know where Williams Ski & Patio or Rick's Auto Body are located, we're on the same street; just about a few hundred yards to the south. If you are not familiar with the area, best to use GPS or some online directions because our store is a bit tricky to find!
