Zuccardi "Q" Mendoza Malbec 2015

91 Our Score
94 James Suckling
(6/21/2017) "Wow. This is exciting. Blackberries, flowers, dark fruit and hints of walnut shell here follow through to a medium to full body, fine tannins and a juicy finish. This is tight and polished. Give it two or three years to soften, but it is already very pretty." (Argentina)

Zorzal "Tinto de Tiza" Eggo Red 2015

92 Our Score
94 Wine Advocate
(12/2016) "The one blend in the Eggo range is the 2015 Eggo Tinto de Tiza, which mixes Malbec with 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented in 2,000-liter egg-shaped cement vats where the wine matured for almost one year. This feels quite complete and balanced, with good ripeness while keeping the balance and poise. The palate is juicy and fresh, with fine-grained tannins and a bittersweet finish akin to sour cherries. Very tasty and long. Super. Incredible for the price. 16,000 bottles were filled in January 2016."

Zenato "Alanera" Veronese Rosso 2014

93 James Suckling
90 Our Score
(10/2018) With rich, plush flavors of black cherry, blackberry, hazelnut, milk chocolate and baking spice, the 2014 Zenato "Alanera" is flat-out delicious from the moment the cork is popped. A blend of traditional Veronese grapes - 55% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 10% Corvinone - and 5% each Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Half of the fruit was dried in the same method that produces Amarone, giving the wine an alluring complexity and depth. If you've been a fan of Allegrini's Palazzo della Torre, you'll love Alanera. Heck, if you're a fan of interesting reds in general, you ought to check this one out.

Yves Leccia Rose lle de Beaute 2017

92+ Our Score
(6/2018) One of our favorite 2017 Roses thus far, this coppery-hued dry pink wine from the island of Corsica is delicious and refined. Made from 100% Niellucciu from 30 year old vines, this juice is concentrated and plush, with intense minerality and lifted acidity. The wine is long and layered and worth the extra few dollars. Great juice from this Kermit Lynch import.

Yves Leccia "Ile de Beaute" Rouge 2015

92+ Our Score
(8/2017) A wonderful blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Niellucciu, the Corsican name for Sangiovese! This energetic, elegant, but structured and chewy red is like a great Cru Beaujolais crossed with a top Cotes-du-Rhone Villages grown in sandy soil. Super distinctive with tons of personality and, most importantly, delicious! Try with all foods you'd pair with Oregon Pinot Noir, like salmon, beer can chicken or lamb chops.

Yalumba "Old Bush Vine" Barossa Valley Grenache 2016

90+ Our Score
93 Wine & Spirits
(2/2018) "The Old Bush Vine range from Yalumba consistently turns out some of the greatest values from Australia, this latest grenache being one of them. It's clean and bright; one taster described the taste as "the perfect parallel to the flavor of raspberries." The structure is about floral delicacy rather than tannic power, a wine light enough to serve chilled. And it brings a range of different foods to mind as accompaniments, from chicken liver mousse to char-grilled sardines to a burger with tomatoes and pickled red onions."

Xavier Vins Muscat de Beaumes de Venise 2015 500 ML

Imported especially for Vin Chicago, this Muscat de Beaumes de Venise is a real treat, offering beautiful acidity and not much more than a kiss of sweetness. AOC rules require a minimum ABV of 15% and Xavier has fortified it just up to that point. His goal was to focus on the aromatics and acidity while avoiding too much alcohol. It's a very tasty wine, and it comes in a very cool looking 500 ml bottle.
93 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "Tasting just like the 2014, only richer and sweeter (although Xavier told me the goal here is less obvious sweetness), the 2015 Muscat de Beaumes de Venise offers a stunning nose of white peach, honeysuckle, sugar water and apricot. Full-bodied, rich, unctuous and decadent, with a big mid-palate and nicely balanced sweetness, drink it over the coming couple of years."

Xavier Vins Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2016

90 Jeb Dunnuck
(8/28/2018) "The 2016 Cotes du Rhone is a winner. Blackberries, flowers, violets, hints of pepper all give way to a fresh, yet rich, beautifully textured red that has fine tannin and the purity of fruit that's common in the vintage."

Xavier Vignon Lirac Rouge 2015

87-90 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "An unusual Southern Rhône blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache, the 2015 Lirac offers bright, juicy acidity and medium-bodied richness. Giving up lots of peppery notes, olive and darker fruits, it has good concentration and impressive purity."

Xavier Vignon "Arcane Le Soleil" Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2015

93+ Jeb Dunnuck
94 Wine Advocate
(10/31/2017) "The 2015 Cotes du Rhone Villages Arcane XVIII Le Soleil is youthfully dark in color and fruit-forward, but it also shows softening, silky tannins. It's full bodied but not overblown, with a sensationally seductive mouthfeel. Black cherries define the fruit, joined by hints of dark chocolate and enough garrigue to give it a seriously savory character despite the fruit. This is an old-vine blend of 80% Grenache with 10% each Syrah and Mourvèdre, aged 15 months in one-third new oak, the rest in concrete or foudre. Maybe the best Côte du Rhône Villages I've ever tasted, it looks to have the stuffing to go another 10 years."

Woodward Canyon "Artist Series" Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

94 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2016) "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series is straight up terrific, with tons of black currants, plums and spice to go with background smoked herbs and toasted bread nuances. Incorporating 11% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, aged 20 months in 50% new French oak, this full-bodied, rich, layered beauty has a great mid-palate, a silky texture and ripe tannin, all suggesting it will have a graceful evolution. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy over the following 10-15. Drink Date: 2019 - 2034."

Wonderwall "Spanish Springs Vineyard" Edna Valley Pinot Noir 2017

89-90 Our Score
(12/2018) The latest release of this single vineyard sensation from winemaker Andrew Jones is even deeper and more concentrated than past vintages. The wine sings of dark cherries, raspberry and hints of cola along with a beautiful floral component laden with cherry blossom. At 12.9% ABV, however, the 2017 Wonderwall is still light on its feet. Packed with delicious fruit-driven flavor and subtle oak spice, it is a delicious, easy going, crowd pleasing winner!

Wonderwall "Spanish Springs Vineyard" Edna Valley Chardonnay 2016

90 Our Score
(1/2018) Many Vin Chicago customers are familiar with the delicious Pinot Noir that Andrew Jones bottles as Wonderwall. Did you know he also makes a Chardonnay? This beauty is sourced from the same Spanish Springs Vineyard as the Pinot Noir, in the Central Coast's Edna Valley. The texture and mouth feel is round, creamy and buttery. The use of new oak adds further complex flavors of vanilla and candy corn. Drinking more like a $30 Chardonnay, this is another great value from Andrew Jones.

Wither Hills Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2017

If you love Kim Crawford, give this crazy value a shot. Most stores sell the Wither Hills for $12-14. As we went to press, our price beats every single listing!
91 Wine Spectator
91 Vinous, Neal Martin
(11/2018) "The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc has a vigorous bouquet of grass clippings and crushed stone, just a hint of white asparagus in the background lending complexity. The taut. Linear palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity, then fans out towards the finish with crisp Granny Smith and gooseberry notes. Excellent."

William Hill "Benchland Series" Napa Valley Chardonnay 2014

92 Wine Spectator
92 Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "A real knockout is the 2014 Chardonnay Benchland Series, 100% Napa Valley, coming from elevated Benchland estate vineyards, more than half of them in St. Helena and the rest farther south in Carneros. Put through partial malolactic and aged 15 months in new and used French oak (50% new and the rest used French oak), this is a much bigger wine (14.9% alcohol) and exhibits that with its almost Chablis-like minerality, striking lemon zest, orange blossom and apple-butter-like notes. It is a beauty, medium to full-bodied, refreshing, with good acidity and surprisingly little evidence of oak. This is a much smaller cuvée of only 1,500 cases. Drink now-2020."

Willi Schaefer Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spatlese 2016

93 James Suckling
93 Wine Advocate
93 Vinous, David Schildknecht
(1/2018) "Scents of ripe pear and pineapple garlanded in heliotrope set the stage for a polished, subtly creamy palate performance at once luscious, invigoratingly tangy, and loaded with seductive inner-mouth perfume. I thought the corresponding Kabinett exquisitely delicate, but this Spatlese seems virtually weightless. The lingering finish is almost like an inhalation of flowers and wet stone, save for the tingling impingement of pear skin, a faint tang of pineapple core and a nip of cress. I sense that I may be in the minority, but I perceive 2016 as one of those vintages chez Schaefer where Himmelreich gives Domprobst a very serious run for its money."
