What's different about Vin Chicago? First of all, we're not about safe choices. We don’t care about hot sellers. We look for the special wines, the ones scoring highest in the wine press and the ones we discover on our own, that we can get for a great price. We taste—and rate for ourselves— virtually everything we put on our shelves. Why? Because we want you to love the wine you buy from us. And come back for more.

Etienne Doue "Cuvee Selection" Brut Champagne NV

91 Our Score
(10/2016) The Étienne Doué is back and, for the second season in a row, it is truly outstanding. This tiny grower-producer makes only a few thousand cases per year of this 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir Champagne. Look for flavors of baked apple and pear, brisk citrus, chalky minerality and light toast along with a fine and fresh bead that dances on the palate creating a wonderful creamy texture.

Veuve Clicquot "Gold Label" Brut 2008

93 Wine Spectator
93 Wine Enthusiast
93 James Suckling
92 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2016) "Assembling 35% Chardonnay, 5% Meunier and 60% Pinot Noir, the 2008 Vintage Brut is one of the rare vintage Champagnes of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin and it follows the earlier releases of 1999, 2004 and 2012. Disgorged in March 2015 with eight grams dosage, the bright colored 2008 has a very clear, fresh, pure and intense, as well as complex nose, with brioche, biscuit and prominent Chardonnay aromas. Pure, dry, straight and elegant on the palate, this is a refreshing and lifted, but also complex and expressive Brut. It also has tension, grip and a stimulating salinity in the finish. This Champagne is excellent and should be served with seafood. Drink 2016 - 2026."

Cliff Lede Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

94 Our Score
93 Wine Advocate
(10/31/2017) "A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 7% Merlot, 7% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District offers up a cassis, smoked meat, blackberry preserves and spice cake-scented nose with a mocha hint. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated with firm, grainy tannins, it shows a lot of oak, which should marry with the intense fruit, finishing long and layered. Drink 2017 - 2033."

(6/30/2017) "Polished and expressive, with a hint of caramel and brown sugar to smooth out the dense black cherry and plum flavors. Dark chocolate, spice and toasted tobacco notes are aromatic and generous on the long finish. Drink now through 2028. 2,385 cases made."

Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot St. Emilion 2015

(2/21/2018) "The 2015 Beau-Sejour Becot is composed of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 85% new and 15% one-year-old French oak for 17 months. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the nose opens with blackberries, black cherries and crushed black plums with touches of spice box, lavender and cedar. Medium to full-bodied, it's rich, velvety and decadent in the mouth with a firm backbone and long, spicy finish. Yum! Drink 2022 - 2042."

Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2015

93 Jeb Dunnuck
95 Wine Spectator
96 James Suckling
(1/2018) "A wine with playful, attractive character. An array of red, blue and purple fruits. Gently spicy, chalky and fragrant, it has a very supple, fleshy and layered palate with a web of fine, smooth and supple tannins. Extremely elegant and composed. A long draw on the finish. Great depth and drive. This will live super long. Try after 2020."

Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2016

95 Wine Spectator
95+ Jeb Dunnuck
(10/2017) "Slightly fresher than the La Roquete release (I always taste this cuvee after the la Roquete which is also made by the Brunier family), the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc gives up lots of lemon and grapefruit characteristics as well as a terrific, salty minerality that makes you salivate. Medium to full-bodied, tight, fresh and clean, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will singe for 2 decades or more. As with the 2015, it's a candidate for the finest white made at this estate."

Deutz Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne 2009

93 Our Score
92 Wine Spectator
92 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2016) "The lemon colored 2009 Blanc de Blancs is rounder than usual, due to the hot summer of 2009. Ripe and intense Chardonnay, with vanilla brioche flavors on the nose lead to an intense, but remarkably pure and fresh palate. It has load of minerality. Very intense and persistent in the finish, but still with great finesse."

Egly Ouriet "Tradition" Brut Grand Cru Champagne NV

93 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(11/2013) "The NV Brut Grand Cru Tradition, Egly-Ouriet's entry-level Champagne, is terrific. Rich, burnished and beautifully expressive, the Grand Cru Tradition flows across the palate with succulent yellow stone fruits, spices, dried flowers and rosemary. The broad, resonant style is hugely appealing and so typical of the Egly-Ouriet house style. This is a great showing. The Grand Cru Tradition is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, all from sites in Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay. The bottle was disgorged in November 2012 after having spent 52 months on the lees, an exceedingly long time for a straight NV Champagne."
