What's different about Vin Chicago? First of all, we're not about safe choices. We don’t care about hot sellers. We look for the special wines, the ones scoring highest in the wine press and the ones we discover on our own, that we can get for a great price. We taste—and rate for ourselves— virtually everything we put on our shelves. Why? Because we want you to love the wine you buy from us. And come back for more.

Whitcraft Winery "Quinta del Mar" San Luis Obispo County Pinot Noir 2017

92 Our Score
(4/2019) The 2017 Quinta Del Mar Pinot Noir bottling comes from the southern tip of San Luis Obispo County. Of all of Drake's releases, it is the most fruit-driven in style with ripe cherries, strawberry and blood orange. The palate is very soft and round, making this so delicious and easy to drink. A good one to drink in it's youth while the Pence Ranch Pinots rest in the cellar.

Whitcraft Winery "Pence Ranch Pommard Clone" Sta Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2017

This clean, vibrant and deliciously mineral-driven Pinot Noir has one foot in Burgundy and one in Santa Barbara!
92+ Our Score
94 Wine Enthusiast
(6/1/2019) "Drake Whitcraft is making wines like his father, Chris, whose bottlings lasted for decades, so this one will be fun to watch evolve. Very light in the glass, the wine shows aromas of raspberry, wet sage and green peppercorns, while the vibrant palate offers light cherry, pine needle, bay leaf and tea leaves. It's tightly woven, so enjoy now to at least 2037. Cellar Selection."

(6/1/2019) "Fresh and nearly effervescent in the glass, this young wine is full of wet soil aromas alongside lively pomegranate and rosebud scents. It's lively and crisp on the palate, where raspberry and pomegranate meet with pinches of oregano, thyme and marjoram."

(1/31/2019) "Blended of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the deep purple-black colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals notions of pure cassis and crushed plums with tobacco, sage and forest floor in the background. Medium-bodied, it has great vivacity and a plush texture with a peppery finish."

(10/29/2018) "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature has a very deep garnet-purple color and opens with wonderfully expressive notes of warm cassis, baked plums, black raspberries and kirsch with suggestions of underbrush, lilacs and chocolate box. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals layers of red and black berries with stunning freshness and an approachable, grainy texture, finishing long and earthy. Drink Date 2019 - 2037."

(1/31/2019) "The 2016 Alec's Blend checks in as a blend of 61% Syrah, 38% Merlot, and the rest Petite Sirah. This deep ruby/purple-colored effort shines on all accounts and offers classy notes of blueberries, ripe black cherries, white flowers, graphite, and flowery, peppery spice. It's medium to full-bodied, has beautiful richness and depth, yet stays lively, pure, and light on its feet. It's a beautiful wine."

Lewis "Mason's" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Winemaker's Notes
"Mason's 2016 Cabernet takes the cake this year - and it's red velvet. Complex, youthful, packed with plums and sweet ripe berries, plus vanilla, milk chocolate, cola and creamy cherry - all you can do is smile. Rich and smooth-cheeked on the palate the wine shows a more mature character too with layers of flavor and polished tannins trailing off to a supple finish."

(5/31/2018) "The 2014 Pinot Noir Estate from Mount Eden is beautiful, wafting from the glass with aromas of red cherries, potpourri, mountain laurel, forest floor and cinnamon. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, ample and layered, with velvety tannins, succulent acids and lovely length and grain on the tangy finish. Follow this young classic for the next 15 years. Coessens "Largiller" Blanc de Noir Brut Aube 2013

94+ Our Score
(11/2018) Jerome farms a total of 3.36 hectares in Ville-sur-Arce in the most southerly portion of Champagne, the Aube. From selected parcels of his monopole cru of Largilliers, this is a vintage wine (though not indicated as such) coming all from the 2013 harvest. Though the soil and location are more akin to Chablis than Champagne, the climatic conditions that favor Jerome's signature grape, Pinot Noir. Any extra grapes are sold to the legendary Jacques Selosse. This is a spellbinding, singular Champagne of huge impact. "Stunner" and "Profound" graced our tasting notes. It is ripe, with balanced red-tinged fruit balanced out by a sexy, smoky gunflint and saline mineral edge. There is an intense, waxy, weighty mouthfeel that is reminiscent of still whites from the Rhone. Pulsing with natural, vital energy and lifted by a chiseled, chalky verve that screams Champagne (or Chablis!). This is unique Champagne that would pair perfectly the richest preparation of scallops imaginable.

Betz Family Winery "La Serenne" Yakima Valley Syrah 2016

This is real-deal Syrah! Only a few cases available.
96 Jeb Dunnuck
95 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2018) "The 2016 Syrah la Serenne hails from two acres within the Boushey Vineyard and was fermented with between 66% and 100% whole clusters. The wine is already very complex, wafting from the glass with notes of grilled meat, dried lavender, pepper and candied peel. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and lavish, with a layered mid-palate, fine-grained structuring tannins, sappy acids and a sapid, saline finish. Drink Date 2018 - 2035." (Washington)
