What's different about Vin Chicago? First of all, we're not about safe choices. We don’t care about hot sellers. We look for the special wines, the ones scoring highest in the wine press and the ones we discover on our own, that we can get for a great price. We taste—and rate for ourselves— virtually everything we put on our shelves. Why? Because we want you to love the wine you buy from us. And come back for more.

Krug "Grande Cuvee - 166eme Edition" Brut Champagne NV

95 Wine Spectator
(11/15/2018) "This mouthwatering Champagne feels like a swathe of raw silk on the palate, where flavors of sun-dried white cherry, toast and Meyer lemon peel are accented by expressive saffron, ground coffee and mandarin orange peel aromas. Long and racy on the honey-, spice- and smoke-laced finish. Disgorged winter 2017. Drink now through 2025."

Ulysses Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

A hot new project from Christian Moueix and the Dominus team!

96 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2015) "The 2013 Ulysses is absolutely mind-boggling, as so many wines from this vintage are. Gorgeous blueberry and blackberry fruit, along with the telltale cassis and floral notes, jump from the glass. Again, this is Pauillac-like, with some cedar wood and subtle barrique smells. Again produced nearly all from Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is full-bodied, powerful, rich and long, with slightly sweeter tannins than the 2012. Production in 2013 was 960 cases, and Moueix told me that the entire growing season averaged about two and half weeks ahead of schedule from bloom break to harvest. This is a prodigious effort and will certainly stand as the great Ulysses of the first trio to be released. I suspect it will be drinkable in 3-4 years and keep for 30 or more, given the Moueix track record."

Cayuse "God Only Knows" Walla Walla Valley Grenache 2015

97 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2018) "The 2015 Grenache God Only Knows Armada Vineyard is superb, wafting from the glass with a bouquet of kaleidoscopic complexity that features aromas of rose hips and peony, ripe cherries and orange rind, mingled with savory bass notes of garrigue, licorice and bay leaf. On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and expansive, with a deep core of fruit framed by very fine-grained, velvety tannins, concluding with a sapid, even saline finish. Its concentration without weight, as well as its striking aromatic amplitude, mark it out as one of the finest expressions of Grenache to be found in the United States. The 2015 was cropped at 1.2 tons per acre and saw a saignee of 8% to 15%, and it was fermented with 70% to 80% whole cluster, attaining 14.2% alcohol."

Vilmart et Cie "Coeur de Cuvee" Brut 2010

Legendary importer Terry Theise awards this wine +++/+++ "No surprise: This is gorgeous. Will there be a better 2010? And will Laurent always make the best wine in normal or 'difficult' vintages? Not his best wines, mind you-the best in all Champagne? This is another in a noble chain of manic vintages (2001, 2007) as separate from the rich sedate vintages (2006, 2009). It's electric, quivering, goose-fleshed, shimmery yet hedonic yet weightless yet as energetic as a kitten jumping after a laser."
95+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(11/2018) "One of the things I admire most about Laurent Champs is his ability to turn out not just good - but great - wines in challenging years in which other growers struggle. Vibrant, nuanced and breathtakingly beautiful, the 2010 is simply mesmerizing. A kaleidoscope of aromas, flavors and textures dazzles all the senses in a taut, vibrant Champagne that will stop readers dead in their tracks. The 2010 is every bit that good. A few years in the cellar should help the wine soften a bit, but it is incredibly beautiful today. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged: February, 2017. Drink 2020 - 2032."

Veuve Clicquot "La Grande Dame" Brut Champagne 2008

95 Wine Spectator
(11/30/2018) "An elegant Champagne, powered by a sculpted frame of acidity and minerality, this wears the refined, lacy mousse and well-meshed flavors of black currant, lemon curd, toast and marzipan like finely tailored clothing. Fresh and lasting, with hints of spice and smoke on the finish. Disgorged August 2016. Drink now through 2033."

Willi Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spatlese #5 2016

93 Mosel Fine Wines
94 James Suckling
(6/2017) "Great interplay of creaminess and raciness, and there's the classic cassis note of this site with a great mineral freshness. Very long and pure. Try to live clean, take regular exercise and hope you'll be around when it's fully mature."

Cayuse "God Only Knows" Walla Walla Valley Grenache 2014

97 Wine Advocate
(6/2017) "There are 533 cases of the 2014 Grenache God Only Knows Armada Vineyard, and as always, it's an unknown blend that's dominated by Grenache (reportedly from vine cuttings from Rayas). It's fermented with just about 100% whole clusters in concrete and aged mostly in neutral puncheons and foudre, with one concrete egg. A bigger, richer wine than the No Girls cuvee, this beauty packs a punch in its black cherry, reduced strawberry, herbes de Provence and crushed violet aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness, a supple, elegant style and fine tannin, this singular beauty will benefit from a year or three of cellaring and keep for 10-15 years."

Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

94 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley has a dense opaque purple color, a kiss of blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel with ripe tannin and a long finish. It is very Caymus in its immediate accessibility, but has plenty of staying power and depth. This is lush, full, intense and pure. Drink it over the next 15 or so years. Drink Date: 2016 - 2031."

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore 2012

94+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
94 Wine Advocate
97 James Suckling
(8/6/2015) "A tight and silky red with compacted fruit and tannin texture featuring blackcurrant, mushroom and bark undertones. Full body, firm tannins and a minerally finish. Excellent structure and mouthfeel. A cooler style of Ornellaia, bringing it back to the classicism of this celebrated region. Bordeaux blend. Better in 2018."

Vice Versa Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

96 James Suckling
94 Wine Advocate
(12/29/2017) "Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon offers up cassis, baked plums and warm cherries notions with touches of cigar box, underbrush and menthol plus a waft of baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers up loads of black fruit preserves and spicy notions with a finely grained frame and great freshness, finishing with a plush texture and savory nuances. 450 cases were made. Drink 2017-2034."
