What's different about Vin Chicago? First of all, we're not about safe choices. We don’t care about hot sellers. We look for the special wines, the ones scoring highest in the wine press and the ones we discover on our own, that we can get for a great price. We taste—and rate for ourselves— virtually everything we put on our shelves. Why? Because we want you to love the wine you buy from us. And come back for more.

Cayuse "Cailloux Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah 2016

97-99 Jeb Dunnuck
(4/5/2018) "Moving to the Syrahs and always the largest production release, the 2016 Syrah Cailloux Vineyard includes a small amount of co-fermented Viognier and is raised all in puncheons. Cold campfire/ash, plums, dried violets, and pepper all flow to a rich, full-bodied, incredibly opulent Syrah that has a stacked, thick mid-palate, bright acidity, and a great, great finish. It's another killer vintage for this vineyard and it's going to be one of the Syrahs of the vintage."

Cayuse "En Chamberlin" Columbia Valley Syrah 2016

95-97 Jeb Dunnuck
(4/5/2018) "The 2016 Syrah En Chamberlin Vineyard offers more tertiary notes of smoked plums, iron, shiitake mushrooms, forest floor, and peppery herbs. It's concentrated, full-bodied, and balanced, with a big mid-palate, yet it glides across the palate with an almost Burgundian silkiness. This is a classic En Chamberlin that has all the Rocks funkiness and complexity, yet a beautiful elegance on the palate."

Cayuse "En Cerise" Walla Walla Valley Syrah 2016

94-97 Jeb Dunnuck
(4/5/2018) "The 2016 Syrah En Cerise Vineyard is another perfumed, complex Syrah. Black cherries, licorice, earth, charcoal, and roasted herb characteristics all flow to a rich, medium to full-bodied, concentrated 2016 that has bright yet integrated acidity, fine tannin, and a big finish. It's one of the fresher, juicier Syrahs in the lineup, yet packs plenty of fruit, and has a remarkable salinity on the finish."

Silver Oak Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Winemaker's Notes
"The 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby in color and entices you with a nose of raspberry, cassis and loose pipe tobacco. This full-bodied wine has an assertively silky structure and is notably spicy on the palate. Flavors of sage and blackberry mark the wine's entry. The strong acidity in the mid-palate is followed by a lingering finish. Given proper cellaring, this wine will provide drinking pleasure through 2038. The 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is comprised of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot."

Raymond "Generations" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

98 Wine Advocate
(10/31/2017) "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Generations is deep garnet-purple in color with an earthy, dried herbs and scorched earth-scented nose over a core of blackberry pie and cassis with Indian spices and menthol. Full-bodied, concentrated and rich in the mouth, with firm, grainy tannins and a savory/earthy character, it finishes long with a mineral hint. Drink Date: 2020 - 2040."

Antinori "Tignanello" Toscana 2015

#24 - Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2018!
97 Wine Spectator
(10/15/2018) "Dense and intensely flavored, with violet, black currant, blackberry, graphite, wild herb and spice aromas and flavors, this is concentrated and solidly built, yet also harmonious, vibrant and pure. Approachable now, but should be better in a few years. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2021 through 2035."

Herman Story Wines "Larner Vineyard" Ballard Canyon Red 2014

96 Jeb Dunnuck
(8/10/2017) "From a site in Ballard Canyon (Santa Barbara County) and made from 52% Syrah and 48% Grenache, the 2014 Larner is another inky colored effort that reveal a fresh, lively perfume of flowers, blackberries, smoked meats and spice. Full-bodied, ethereally textured and seamless, with no hard edges and a seamless texture, it's another blockbuster from Russell that I'd be thrilled to drink anytime over the coming 4-6 years."

Silver Oak Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

The 2012 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has just arrived at Vin Chicago! While many top producers have already released their 2013 and even 2014 vintages, it is the longstanding philosophy of Silver Oak to hold on to their wines until they are ready to drink. While we have not yet tasted this release, the overall quality of Napa's 2012 vintage leads us to have high expectations. We offer it for the very lowest price authorized by the winery. A penny less and they'd pull our allocation!

Bollinger "La Grande Annee" Brut Champagne 2007

94+ Wine Advocate
94 Wine Spectator
94 Jeb Dunnuck
(3/15/2018) "I loved the 2007 La Grande Annee, which is based on 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. Over 90% of this cuvee was sourced from Grand Cru sites, with the balance from Premier Cru villages. Vinified all in older barrels and aged 6 years in bottle on lees, it boasts a deep, rich, creamy style as well as full-bodied notes of ripe stone fruits, wood smoke, and spice. It has vibrant acidity, impressive length, and notable purity, all making for a classy, impressive Champagne that will keep for 10-15 years."

Bodegas El Nido "El Nido" Jumilla 2015

95 Wine Advocate
(12/29/2017) "Following the style of the Clio from the same vintage, the 2015 El Nido is a powerful, ripe and concentrated blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Monastrell aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for 23 months. It's bottled with 16% alcohol, not a shy wine but not one that shows heat, as it keeps the balance in an XL way. It feels concentrated, powerful and young, but the oak is surprisingly more integrated than in the 2014. As it happens with many wines, this is not for everybody, as it has a marked style, but for those who like this profile, this could very well be the finest vintage of El Nido to date. It can be had with powerful food, but it should be better with a few years in bottle. 5,500 bottles were filled in September 2017. Drink Date: 2019 - 2030."
