A $24.79 Baby Brother to Bordeaux's Château Angelus!

A $24.79 Baby Brother to Bordeaux's Château Angelus!

One of Bordeaux’s greatest and most famous producers is the Boüard family's Château Angelus. If you were to buy a bottle of the 2022 vintage of Angelus, it’d set you back around $500.

Fortunately, Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal now also crafts an alternate bottling from vineyards that her family owns just outside the Saint-Émilion border, and we're blasting it out today for 1/20th that price.

The 2022 Tempo d'Angelus is crafted in the state-of-the-art Angelus winery by the same winemaking team as Château Angelus. As is often the case with baby brother wines from famed Bordeaux producers, it is an unreal value.

Scroll down to read all about this delicious bargain-of-a-Bordeaux, and for a crack at the 2022 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot, then hit down fast on the Big Green Button before our limited supplies get snapped up!

2022 Château Angelus "Tempo d'Angelus"
Bordeaux, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
The "Tempo d'Angelus" is produced at Chai Carillon, the stunning winery pictured above that also houses and crafts the famed Château Angelus. In the excellent 2022 harvest, their winemaking team built Tempo d'Angelus from a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, all harvested from clay-limestone soils similar to what is found in St.-Émilion.
Instantly recognizable as Bordeaux, the nose gives hints of plum and green, with tobacco and minerality up front. A few swirls of this bright, medium-ruby colored wine and you'll find that familiar and pleasing "Bordeaux-ness" that we all love.
Currants and blue plum fruits open up quickly, with hints of cedar, crunchy leaves, pepper, chalk and red crumbled stones adding to the layers. Very drinkable, this wine also shows a grip and lift structure that suggests development over 3-5 years could be quite interesting and rewarding.
With just the right amount of freshness and chew to work with salmon, roast chicken or flank steak, and friendly enough to enjoy a glass by itself, this earns 92 points on the Vin Chicago scale. We think you're going to love it.
2022 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot
Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France
“The 2022 Beau-Séjour Bécot is a total stunner. What a wine! The 2022 was magnificent en primeur, and it is all that from bottle. The aromatics alone are mesmerizing. Crushed rose petal, mint, blood orange, new leather and cedar meld into a core of pliant red-toned fruit. More than anything else, I am so impressed with the wine's precision and finesse. I have never tasted a Beau-Séjour Bécot like this. Drinking Window: 2030 - 2062.”
          - 100 Points, Vinous - Antonio Galloni (1/2025)
“This is very fresh, expressive and focused, with violet, iris and rosehip notes darting to the fore, while flavors of sleek raspberry and red currant preserves race along behind. Almost flattering, but there's a subtle chalky tension piercing the finish, which sails through. A dreamy wine. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2026 through 2040. 6,250 cases made, 1,600 cases imported.”
          - 96 Points, Wine Spectator (3/31/2025)
“Tasted on multiple occasions, the 2022 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot is flat-out sensational, as well as the finest wine I’ve tasted from this château. Powerful aromatics of red, blue, and black fruits as well as crushed stone and violets define the aromatics, and it’s full-bodied, incredibly concentrated, has integrated acidity, and ultra-fine tannins. Based on 76% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, this heavenly Saint-Emilion will benefit from just 3-5 years of bottle age and have 30 years or more of overall longevity. Back up the truck. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2055.”
