2022 Castello di Volpaia Chianti Classico

This attractive 2022 Chianti Classico is a hand-harvested blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, all from certified organic vineyards planted to clay and sandstone soils at 1,300 to 1,900 feet.
Aged for 12 months in large neutral casks, it offers classic Chianti aromas and flavors of dried cherries, cranberries and raspberries layered with notes of tobacco leaf, cured prosciutto, baking spices and a wonderful Tuscan earthiness of sand and crushed rocks.

This gorgeous expression of 100% certified organic Sangiovese comes from the winery’s high elevation vineyards just to the north of Radda in the heart of Chianti Classico. It spent 24 months in a combination of Slavonian and French oak casks, creating a wine with depth, complexity and a powerful, remarkably well-balanced structure.
