Catherine Marshall's Stellar Sauvignon Blanc is Back!

Catherine Marshall's Stellar Sauvignon Blanc is Back!

For the 11th consecutive year, we are proud to bring you the new release of Catherine Marshall Sauvignon Blanc!

From her winery in the coastal Elgin Valley of South Africa, Catherine produces just over 1,000 cases each year of this perfectly balanced white.

With her 2024 bottling, she has nailed it and, once again, we have snapped up the lion's share of the United States allocation!

Read on for our tasting notes, and for a crack at the 97-Point inaugural bottling of "Lillie's Vineyard" Pinot Noir from Patricia Green Cellars, then hammer the Big Green Button while supplies last.

==========

2024 Catherine Marshall Sauvignon Blanc
Cape South Coast, South Africa
~~~~~~~~~~~
The secret to the unique character of this wine, Catherine says, are the Elgin Valley's cool coastal nights. This daily relief from the heat allows the vines to recover each evening, and it extends the growing season a few weeks longer than typical.
This maximizes the fruit flavors and acidity without compromising the flinty, mineral-driven side of Sauvignon Blanc that we find so wonderful.
The result is a wine that, for the same price as so many famous mass produced brands, offers a vibrancy, purity of fruit and delicious character that is totally unique.
Expressive flavors of melon rind, nectarine, lychee, pink grapefruit and river rock are smooth, rich, refreshing and quite enticing. All that, plus a beautiful texture, are why this wine has such a cult-like following among Vin Chicago shoppers, and why our supply goes so fast!
"Sold as a Cape South Coast bottling because it's a 90/10 marriage of Elgin and Hemel-enAarde Ridge fruit, this is picked three times to build complexity. Layers of lime, elderflower and kiwi fruit are complemented by chiselled acidity and a nettley top note. 2025-28.”
          - 91 Points, Tim Atkins (2025 Report)
Despite only making 1,394 cases, roughly 0.08% the production of Kim Crawford, Catherine lavishes a tremendous amount of effort into this wine, harvesting and fermenting each parcel separately and allowing four months of aging on the lees.
Enjoy all summer long with just about anything. Only a small amount of this wine makes it to the United States, and we get the vast majority. Seriously delicious Sauvignon Blanc here, for a steal of a price!
The 97-Point Inaugural Bottling of "Lillie's Vineyard" Pinot!
2022 Patricia Green "Lillie's Vineyard" Pinot Noir
Dundee Hills, Oregon
~~~~~~~~~~~
We've managed to track down a few more cases of this tiny production Pinot Noir superstar! Made using fruit purchased from a vineyard farmed by Dusky Goose, this inaugural release has earned a whopping 97+ Points from Jeb Dunnuck, who writes...

"The first bottling of this wine, the 2022 Pinot Noir Lillie's Vineyard opens to notes of ripe wild raspberries, eau de vie, fresh flowers, sweet herbs, and wet stones. A gorgeous wine and one of the top wines in the vineyard, it’s seamless on the palate, with wonderful structure, ripe tannins, even acidity, a beautiful refreshing lift on the long finish. Just gorgeous. Drink it over the next 20 years. It’s great now and will have a wide window. Maturity 2024 - 2044.”
          - 97+ Points, Jeb Dunnuck (8/6/2024)

For their Lillie's Vineyard bottling, Ducky Goose charges $110. At the winery, this goes for $75. Our price is bonkers. Lay it down for a few more years, then enjoy greatness!
