This rich, dark and opulent blend of 40% Mourvèdre, 25% Syrah, 20% Grenache, and 15% Cinsault showcases aromas and flavors of dried black cherry, blueberry compote and black plum, all layered with charming Southern Rhône accents of peppery spice, classic herbal "garrigue" notes, and a scorched gravel earthiness.

Located just a few miles west of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the Lirac appellation is a significant "Cru" of the Southern Rhône, and this bottling from the Lombardo family is an outrageous value. Featuring dense fruit, caressing tannins and a streak of lively acidity, the mouthfeel is rather luxurious. We award a strong, yet perhaps stingy, 91+ Points. 

This will pair seamlessly with grilled or smoked red meats, hearty red sauce pastas, and even deep dish pizza. While already drinking great, the quality-to-price ratio makes it ideal for grabbing in quantity and laying a few bottles down to enjoy over the coming 3 to 5 years.

Also newly arrived is this classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Paul Autard and his daughter Pauline. During our recent visit to the Rhône, this was one of several wineries in the midst of a generational shift. As smart and strong-willed as her father, we are excited to see what directions Pauline will take the estate!

“The classic 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape from this estate is based on equal parts Grenache and Syrah that was raised in an even split of old and new barrels. Sweet red and black fruits, peppery herbs, violets, and Provençal notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It's a great entry level cuvée that gives a real sense of the vintage."
