2024 A Tribute to Grace Rosé of Grenache
Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
If there are two words that describe this wine, they are effortlessly delicious. It took massive restraint for our team to not finish off the sample bottle within 15 minutes.
The amount of complexity and depth packed into this fresh and lively wine is mindblowing. Bursting with vibrant flavors of cherry, strawberry, and watermelon, this stuff is a joy from the very first sip. Notes of just-ripened peach skin, honeydew melon, pomegranate, cherry blossom and fresh white flowers add to the experience and really awaken the senses.
Boasting a nice streak of minerality, Angela's 2024 Rosé is so easy to drink and so refreshing. The food pairings are nearly endless!
Median online retail for the 1176 case production gem is $28. As usual, we bring it to you for less. With 80 degree temps in the forecast for this afternoon, now's the time to get your Rosé on!
Single-Vineyard Thriller from Joey Tensely!
2023 Tensley “Colson Canyon Vineyard” Syrah
Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
Using his "get out of the way and let the vineyard speak for itself” philosophy, Joey Tensley absolutely crushed it with this gorgeous 2023 Syrah from the rugged Colson Canyon Vineyard - high up in the hills above Los Olivos.
Known for its warm, windy, sunny days, and cool nights, this unique vineyard turned out a blockbuster Syrah packed with plenty of those pedal-to-the-metal dark blue and black Central Coast fruits and classic cool-climate notes of spicy black pepper, purple flowers and dried wild herbs. There's an impressive layer of rocky earthiness too, that adds even more to the depth!
Every vintage of this wine going back to 2015 has earned between 95 and 97+ Points from Jeb Dunnuck. Tasting this release from barrel, he's awarded a score range of 94 to 96 points. Coincidentally, that's exactly the same rating given by Antonio Galloni. By the time they each release their from-the-bottle notes, this beauty is going to be long gone!
“The 2023 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard comes from great vineyard (which is owned and farmed by Tensley) located in the hills above Los Olivos. Darker red and blue fruits, dried flowers, sandalwood, and peppery, spicy notes all shine here, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with a balanced mouthfeel, fine tannins, and outstanding length. This cuvée always benefits from bottle age, and I don’t expect the 2023 to be any different.”
- 94 - 96 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (08/22/2024)
“The 2023 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard once again shows how unique this site is. Black cherry, plum, licorice, crushed rocks, graphite, cured meats, iron and chalk are some of the many notes that grace this complex, wonderfully dynamic Syrah. There's so much going on here. Drinking Window: 2026 - 2035.”
- 94 - 96 Points, Vinous - Antonio Galloni (07/2024)
The winery sells this complex, full-throttle beauty for a cool $52.50. At our price, it's a total no-brainer for those that love beautiful California reds. Grab a bottle to enjoy now with a medium-rare porterhouse and a few more for some highly rewarding mid-term aging!
