Bedock Library Stunners!

Bedock Library Stunners!

 We just got our hands on a mother lode of rarities from Morgan Twain-Peterson including a pair of 100-Point library releases!

“These wines are incredible achievements in winemaking, and mind-blowing to someone like myself, who visited Guigal every year from 1978 to 2012 and would never have dreamed that someone in California, in addition to Manfred Krankl, could somehow pull off wines so similar to those from the Rhône Valley. Well, here they are.”
- Robert Parker, October 2016

Scroll down for the stupefying tasting notes on all six wines, including a 98-Point current release, then smash down on the Big Yellow Button to claim your share. We'll indicate on the order form as items sell out. With supplies as low as 12 bottles, these incredible wines will be gone in a flash!

100-Point Robert Parker Perfection!

Only 125 cases were made of these very special 2013 vintage Syrahs. When we were given the opportunity to acquire a case of each direct from the winery's library collection, we jumped fast. It has been a long time since we've featured the words of Robert Parker. A 100-Point score from him really means something, and the words he wrote are pure magic. A VERY rare opportunity!

2013 Bedrock "Exposition Two - Weill a Way Vineyard" Syrah
Sonoma Valley, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
“The 2013 Syrah Exposition 2 is a perfect wine. This is 50% de-stemmed and co-fermented with 8% Viognier. Bacon fat, lychee, tapenade, black raspberry and black cherry liqueur soar through the explosive aromatics of this wine. The wine hits the palate with the extraordinary silkiness, fine-grained tannin, massive concentration, but the balance and precision of a ballerina. This is truly prodigious wine that could also be considered the La Mouline of Sonoma, although I suspect these are all supposed to be the equivalents of La Mouline, La Landonne and La Turque. Drink Date: 2016 - 2031.”
          - 100 Points, Wine Advocate - Robert Parker (10/28/2016)
Absolutely incredible words here from Robert Parker himself. If you understand the importance of Guigal’s La-Las, this is astonishing praise!
2013 Bedrock "Exposition Three - Weill a Way Vineyard" Syrah
Sonoma Valley, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Like its sibling, it is a 125-case cuvée of 84% Syrah and 16% co-fermented Viognier. There was no inclusion of stems on this particular wine. This is the most La Mouline-like of the trio, no doubt because of the high percentage of Viognier, with extraordinary bacon fat, violets, lychee, black raspberry, sweet cherry, licorice and tapenade. The wine is velvety textured, full-bodied, but wonderfully pure, rich and striking. Drink Date: 2016 - 2031.”

We procured the last case available from the winery. It is a serious sliver of wine history!

2014 & 2015 Single-Vineyard Classics!

2014 Bedrock "Pagani Ranch Heritage" Red Blend
Sonoma Valley, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
From one of the most pedigreed vineyards in the United States, with original vines planted in 1880, we adore Pagani and are jealous imagining you opening one of these perfectly aged beauties at a special family dinner!
“Just when I think I have tasted the best Bedrock has to offer with the Monte Rosso, the Pagani arrives. A huge, powerful wine, the Pagani is marked by its huge center of fruit, fabulous inner sweetness and exceptional balance. The huge, dramatic finish along is compelling. Today, the Pagani is intense and still a bit raw, but it is stunningly beautiful just the same. Drinking Window: 2020 - 2034.”
2015 Bedrock "The Bedrock Heritage" Red Blend
Sonoma County, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
One of our staff members couldn't resist buying and popping a bottle of this immediately on arrival last week. Boasting complex and singular exotic wildflowers, plus sublimely intertwined elements of fruit, earth and barrel, it is showing great!

“Possibly the flagship wine is the 2015 Proprietary Red The Bedrock Heritage. This ancient vineyard is planted with 27 different varieties, so I won’t even begin to list them, as that is a book in itself. This is Rhône Valley-like, with notes of Mediterranean herbs, blackberries, blueberries, loamy soil notes, incense, creosote, steak tartare and pepper followed by a wine of great intensity – built like a skyscraper, with layers of fruit and extraction. It is a sensational effort, super-complex, and best drunk over the next decade. Drink Date: 2016 - 2026.”
          - 96 Points, Wine Advocate - Robert Parker (10/28/2016)

“Similar to the 2013, the 2015 The Bedrock Heritage is a field blend from a site planted in 1888 that contains 19 different grape varieties, with the large portion being Zinfandel and Carignan. The 2015 is another singular, exotic, incredibly satisfying red that offers terrific complexity in its plum and blueberry fruits, cigar wrapper, mulled spices, and chocolate aromas and flavors. Deep, full-bodied, concentrated, and undeniably sexy on the palate, with loads of fruit yet no apparent weight or richness, it’s already impossible to resist, but I suspect it will keep for 10-12 years.”

A Vin Chicago Favorite, Revisited!

2013 Bedrock "Monte Rosso Vineyard" Zinfandel
Sonoma Valley, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
We scored this wine 94+ points while tasting it with Morgan and his partner Chris Cottrell at a winemaker dinner in 2015. Over a decade later, we are happy to reunite with it, fresh from the winery’s library. Only one case available.
“The 2013 Zinfandel Monte Rosso is fabulous. A dark, opulent wine, the 2013 is endowed with magnificent power and richness. Inky blue and black fruit, smoke, licorice and dark spices meld together in the glass. The firm mountain are nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. Grilled herbs, smoke and lavender add nuance on the close. This is a fabulous expression of Monte Rosso, one of the most historic and pedigreed vineyards in northern California. Drinking Window: 2018 - 2033.”
Plus a 98-Point Current Release!
2024 Bedrock "Nervo Ranch Heritage" Red Blend
Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
Don’t miss what is almost certain to be your one and only chance at the “incredibly distinctive” 98-Point 2024 Nervo! This blend of 17 grape varieties is the only current release in today's lineup, and it is another stunner! As with the library releases, just a few cases available!

“For him, this is the most polarizing wine in the range, coming from 1896 vines in Alexander Valley planted on decomposed slate soils with Negrette as the secondary variety. The 2024 Nervo Ranch Heritage Wine reveals dark cherries, wild herbs, pepper, and gravelly mineral tones. The tannin structure is almost Barolo-like in its grip and chiseled feel, which may divide readers, but I absolutely love it. One of the highlights in the lineup for me, drink it over the coming two decades. Drinking Window: 2026 - 2046.”
          - 98 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (6/30/2026)

“The 2024 Nervo Ranch Heritage Wine is an incredibly distinctive wine, largely because of the complexity of a field blend that includes 17 varieties. The lifted, articulate bouquet is immediately alluring. Brilliant red-toned fruit, chalk, mint and white pepper are beautifully sculpted. A spine of persistent yet refined tannins shapes the mid-palate and finish. Gorgeous. Drinking Window: 2028 - 2044.”
