Not only did Guillaume follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, the documented history of winemaking in the Nudant family goes nearly two dozen generations back to 1453, where official documents list his ancestor - also named Guillaume Nudant - as a winemaker.

The current estate was formed in 1950 by Guillaume's grandfather, and today's wines comes from vines that his father and grandfather planted 40 to 45 years ago on a tiny 1.11 hectare parcel tucked away in the hills above the Côtes de Nuits. As you can tell by the above photo of Guillaume with grapes riding shotgun in his front seat, it is still a small operation!

From hand harvested grapes fermented and aged for 12 months in oak barrels with gentle stirring of the lees, today's lively, balanced, pure, fresh, and clean bottling of Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Blanc checks ALL the boxes for white Burgundy deliciousness.

With a few minutes of swirling, a complex nose reveals an enticing mix of fresh green apple, yellow pear, lemon crème, dried white flowers, wet stone, and hazelnut along with just a tiny hint of butterscotch. 

We found ourselves going back over and over again to pour a few more ounces in our glass when we were writing these notes yesterday afternoon. This wine brings you back quickly for the next sip! And, as much fun as it is to sip on its own, it'll be even more amazing paired with butter poached lobster or a creamy chicken pasta with toasted pine nuts.

Boasting a round and creamy texture with classic minerality and lively acidity, everything is bright and energetic. The palate is medium intensity. The finish is long and delicious. The purity and freshness here makes this an absolute white Burgundy gem.

Loire Valley Cabernet Franc Rosé!

This beautiful Rosé of Cabernet Franc from may not come from a family with 600 years of winemaking history, but fifth generation vigneron Maxime Pitault is doing pretty impressive things with his vineyards in Bourgueil. 

From 100% Cabernet Franc, this crisp and dry Rosé gives subtle ripe cherry and strawberry fruits with plenty of white stone minerality followed by a punch of green herbs and bell pepper on the lengthy finish. Fun and mouthwateringly zippy, it drinks excellent by itself and with all kinds of fare. We thoroughly enjoyed our bottle with spicy chicken tacos! 

Priced right in the sweet spot, this one is worthy of a case buy to enjoy during the upcoming dog days of summer!
