Sultry and savory, the 2019 Basalte leads with dusty cherry, red earth and savory spices. There's a pure character here that makes itself apparent from the first pour. The 2019 “Staking Claim” Chardonnay comes from five vineyards in the Chehalem Mountains, most of which are owned and farmed by Adelsheim. Harvested by hand and raised in small and medium sized French oak barrels, roughly 35% of which were new, this beautiful six-year old Chardonnay has an “old world” Burgundy-like structure featuring lifted acidity and a modest 12.5% ABV.

Boasting fresh orchard and baked citrus fruit flavors, this dry, vibrant white shows hints of honey, apple butter and macadamia along with baking spice, hints of toast, and subtle mineral tension. With a pleasingly rich mouthfeel and a long, complex and quite yummy finish, this serious wine typically goes for $48. Today, you'll pay half that!
