Once again, luck has come our way! While scanning an end-of-year supplier closeout list, we found a tiny-production Premier Cru Burgundy from Jean-Claude Boisset for a price that seemed too good to be true.

2020 Jean-Claude Boisset "Les Valozières" 1er Cru
Aloxe-Corton, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
While the Boisset family has winemaking projects around the world, including in Napa, Sonoma, England and India, the heart of their business remains in Burgundy.
From their 0.26 hectare parcel of the 1er Cru "Les Valozières" vineyard, a mere 85 cases were produced of this classic Burgundy. If you buy it in New York, you'll pay $220. Today, it flies for just $59.99.
Vinified naturally, using 50% whole clusters, this 2020 red was raised in a combination of new and used oak. Given our limited supply, we defer to tasting notes from this 95-Point review from James Suckling...
“Very fragrant for a wine from this commune, with tons of sour-cherry aroma and a touch of licorice. Concentrated, structured and vibrant, so clean and crisp. Also the tannins have a level of crispness that makes this very appealing, in spite of its tightly focused power. Excellent aging potential. Drink or hold.”
          - 95 Points, James Suckling (7/18/2022)
The only listing in the United States is $220. Not only is our price 72% less, it also beats every listing across the planet for ANY vintage of this wine. With only a few six-bottle cases available, our supply will go fast!
93-Point Blanc de Noirs from Schramsberg!
When it comes to American sparkling wines, Schramsberg is the elder statesmen. Based in Napa Valley, Hugh Davies and his team craft their wines using the same traditional methods as Champagne, raising them in subterranean caves just south of Calistoga.
Over the years, the most popular Schramsberg bottling at Vin Chicago has been their pale salmon hued Blanc de Noirs. Today, we bring you the delicious new release of this wine!
2022 Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs Brut
North Coast, California
~~~~~~~~~~~

The Davies family first bottled their iconic Blanc de Noirs back in 1967. A combination of 89% Pinot Noir and 11% Chardonnay, this latest bottling of their “White from Black” sparkler comes primarily from their sustainably farmed cool-climate vineyards in Sonoma, with additional fruit from Napa, Mendocino and Marin counties.

Pouring its classic pale salmon-hue, this enticing sparkler gives layers of white raspberry, sour cherry, Fuji apple and spring flowers. Creamy, with textural plumpness balanced by a soft bubbly mousse, the wine has crunch and verve plus a welcome amount of energy that adds complexity to the pleasure-forward style. We are massive fans.

“Lively and refined but festive, with pretty accents of strawberry, lemon, apple and graham cracker that sail on the crisp yet supple finish. Drink now. 11,400 cases made.”
          - 93 Points, Wine Spectator (12/31/2025)

We had a chance to taste this 2022 next to the prior vintage over the weekend. Both are impressive and yummy, and both earned 93 Points from Wine Spectator, but our preference is for the youthful, lifted, Champagne-like minerality of today’s 2022 bottling.

Wine Spectator quotes $46. As usual, our price is less!
