Delicious Red Burgundy from Century Old Domaine Pierre Gelin!

Delicious Red Burgundy from Century Old Domaine Pierre Gelin!

Today's exciting offer features a pair of truly authentic red Burgundies from the under-the-radar Domaine Pierre Gelin. This family domaine was founded in 1925 and, 100 years later, continues to be run by the Gelin family with Pierre's grandson, Pierre-Emmanuel, at the helm. The two wines we bring you today are produced from the domaine's organically farmed vineyards in the prized appellations of Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin, and are perfectly priced for all wine lovers!

We lead things off with the 2023 Bourgogne Cote D'Or Rouge, a superb knockout filled with pure black cherry, violets, subtle spice and underlying earthiness. This silky-smooth Pinot Noir is one of the most smile-inducing red Burgundies we have tasted all year and initially had us thinking it would cost upwards of $50. We were blown away when we saw we could sell it for over 30% less!

Also today, don't miss their 2021 "Clos de Meixvelle" bottling, a small-batch single vineyard monopole in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin that, for under ninety bucks a bottle, can comfortably slide into any Pinot lover's cellar. Read more details below on these pleasure-packed Pinots and then swiftly click the Big Green Button to bring home your Burgundy before these bottles vanish!

2023 Domaine Pierre Gelin
Bourgogne Côte-d'Or Rouge
Burgundy, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
This gorgeous bottle of Burgundy is produced from vines planted in the Domaine's original home commune of Fixin (pronounced Fees-an), along with fruit from select vineyards in Gevery-Chambertin. Pour yourself a generous glass and be greeted with pure dark red berries featuring black cherries and raspberries layered with playful notes of violets, subtle baking spices, and dampened earth. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine is focused and linear with attractively pure, delicious and nearly explosive mixed berries leading the way, followed by a refreshing minerality and notes of cola and spice on the lengthy finish.
The wine's soft and caressing tannins will allow this to pair effortlessly with roast chicken, a grilled salmon salad, or apple-cider marinated pork chops. It's very apparent that Pierre-Emmanuel shows some serious love and care to his organically farmed vines and gently shepherds his fruit into what is simply a beautiful expression of Pinot Noir. Wine Spectator also took note writing the following review...
"Dark, rich and slightly gamy, displaying black cherry, blackberry, earth and toasty oak flavors. Balanced and leaves a refreshing feel on the resonant finish. Enticing. Drink now through 2030. 600 cases imported."
         - 91 Points, Wine Spectator (7/31/2025)
One may expect an expensive price tag for an estate grown red Burgundy from organically farmed vines in Fixin and Gevery-Chambertin. However, the online median retail from a handful of listings for this 600 case production gem is just just $41. Our way lower price makes this a rare Burgundy bargain!
Domaine Pierre Gelin's Monopole Bottling from Gevrey-Chambertin!
2021 Domaine Pierre Gelin "Clos de Meixvelle"
Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte d’Or, Burgundy, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
Back in 1961, the Gelin family extended their estate by purchasing vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, including some notable Grand Cru, Premier Cru, and other single vineyards known as "climats." Today, we are thrilled to offer you a special bottling from their monopole vineyard, the 2021 Clos de Meixvelle.

Located in the center of the village of Gevrey, the 70 year old vines of this walled-in vineyard are planted on alluvial soils with a limestone base, and lead to a wine with classic Gevrey-Chambertin character of gorgeous dark berry fruits with incredible depth and a powerful, yet elegant structure. An absolute joy to drink, this beauty is already showing great, and has at least another decade of pleasure ahead. We lovingly stamp it with a strong 92-Points, as does the Wine Spectator...

"This enticing red is open and complex, delivering spicy cherry, roasted beet and earth notes, with a hint of rhubarb, all framed by oak spice. Firm, yet with viscosity and intensity. Shows fine balance and length. Drink now through 2036. 500 cases made."
            - 92 Points, Wine Spectator (9/2/2024)

Wine Spectator quotes $96, an attractive price for a 500 case production single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin. Looking online, we found only nine listings with a median retail of $94. Our price beats them all!
