==========
2024 Domaine de la Croix des Orbinières Sauvignon Blanc
Touraine, Loire Valley, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
Coming from a long line of grape farmers, Lionel works with sustainably farmed Sauvignon Blanc vines on his estate in the middle Loire Valley's Touraine district. While land is less expensive here than in the nearby regions of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume, the wines share the citrus and tropical fruit character and bone dry mineral sizzle!
Round on the palate with a subtle cut and just the right amount of tartness and mineral intensity, Lionel's recently arrived 2024 Domaine de la Croix des Orbinières Sauvignon Blanc delivers a super yummy collection of fruit flavors including key lime, yellow apple, and guava with hints of fresh picked herbs, white pepper, and chalky minerality. Earning a strong 90+ point rating from our team, it has a juicy, zippy freshness and vibrancy that will make it the hit of the party, or the star of a Tuesday evening, for fans of Sancerre and New Zealand SB drinkers alike.
As a grab-it-as-you-need, drink-it-all-summer-long white, this is a next level wine at a refreshingly low price. It even has a convenient screw-top capsule. Grab a case and let the parties roll!
2023 Domaine des Bouzons "La Friandise"
Côtes du Rhône, Southern Rhône Valley, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
There are few red wines that are more satisfying and deliciously drinkable than a great red Côtes du Rhône. Today we present our current best buy from this famously affordable region, the 2023 Domaine des Bouzons "La Friandise". Over the last six years, this deliciously overdelivering Côtes du Rhône has consistently sold out, a result of the deliciously authentic juice in the bottle and the extremely fair price.
Sixth generation farmer Marc Serguier and his son Nicolas organically farm a five hectare vineyard of 45-year-old vines. As with previous vintages, this new release is a blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Counoise. The 2023 La Friandise combines classic red berry flavors, including fresh picked raspberry and cherry, with defining Southern Rhône notes of clay, red rock, and limestone earth. Secondary tones of white pepper, fresh picked sage, thyme, and red flowers confirm the predominance of Grenache in this traditional red.
With a fresh, soft mouthfeel, this 13% ABV red is a perfect everyday spring/summer red, especially now that grilling season is here. Looking online we could find only one other store selling this wine. They have it for $20. Thanks to the Vin Chicago overhead structure and supply chain, we bring it to you for 30% less.
There is so much authentic Côtes du Rhône goodness here that this price is just ridiculous. Wine like this is the reason why this region has been central to Vin Chicago for so many decades. Grab a stash to drink and share with friends anywhere, anytime!
