Final Crack at 94-Point Barolo that Sells for 75% Less than Its Peers!
The 2020 vintage in Barolo was an outstanding one, with Wine Spectator awarding scores of 94 Points to nearly four dozen wines. Of these wines, the average price is $157. The wine we sell you today - the best priced bottling to earn a score of 94 Points or higher - goes for 1/4 of that amount!
Equalling the ratings of $290 to $536 luxury bottlings from Gaja, Altare, Rinaldi, Giacosa and Ceretto, the 2020 Damilano "Lecinquevigne" Barolo is an outstanding wine at an absolute knockout price.
Scroll down for our tasting notes, and for a rocking good "Tuesday night" red from G.D. Vajra, then hit the Big Green Button to get in on the action. When we featured the Damilano last year, our supply sold in a flash!

2020 Damilano "Lecinquevigne" Barolo
Piedmont, Italy
~~~~~~~~~~~
This estate-grown Barolo is lovely and rich in the mouth with an approachable softness that is framed by a serious structure of chewy tannins and elegant acidity.
Pouring a medium-deep ruby with streaks of garnet, this complex and sophisticated wine boasts aromas and flavors of dark red berries, fresh and dried herbs, flowers, organic earth and black rock minerals.
If you are like us and love to drink Barolo but would rather not spend $100 every time you pop the cork, this is a massive win. It is simply fantastic that a Barolo this good is still available for under forty bucks.
“Stitched with pure cherry and raspberry fruit, this red is supple and fragrant, showing lovely harmony. Mineral, tar and eucalyptus accents add detail. There's plenty of structure, with vibrant acidity and refined tannins focusing the finish. Elegant, with the potential to develop over the next two decades. Best from 2027 through 2045. 5,800 cases made, 4,000 cases imported.”
- 94 Points, Wine Spectator
Already approachable, the 2020 Lecinquevigne will be even better in another year or two and will drink beautifully for a decade or two beyond that. A rare Barolo opportunity that should not be missed!
Our sample bottle was delicious when we popped the cork and drank even better on the second day. There is so much that we love about this wine. On our scale it is 92 Points. Awarding the same rating, Jeb Dunnuck writes...
“A deep purple/magenta color, the 2023 Barbera D'Alba offers loads of fresh lavender, fresh blackberries, red plum, and delicate, fresh herbs, and spice. (I love the nose on this vintage.) On the palate, the wine has a fantastically refreshing feel and a clean finish, with a lot of charm and versality. Drink 2024-2030. Maturity: 2024 - 2030.”
