Final Crack at Donovan Rall's “Seductive” 95-Point, $23.99 White!

The “Rall White” from South African winemaker Donovan Rall is stunning. At $23.99, you’ll have a hard time finding a more exciting dry white for the money from anywhere!

"This is the best white wine I have ever made."
- Donovan Rall

We brought this wine to you a year ago as a pre-arrival offer. We are now down to our last few dozen cases, and it is drinking even better.

Driven by salacious minerality, a generous amount of mouth density, and layered flavors, Donovan calls it the best white he has ever made, and we believe him. Earning 95 Points from Decanter Magazine, and similarly exciting reviews from Wine Advocate, Vinous and Tim Atkin, it is a compelling bottle and a massive bargain at $23.99.

2022 Rall Wines "Rall White"

Swartland, South Africa

~~~~~~~~~~~
Lush, round and unctuous, the 2022 Rall White is a Chenin Blanc dominated blend with bits of Verdelho and Viognier. Delicate peachy aromas greet your nose, followed by a honey, fresh apricot and pineapple laden palate with hints of crunchy citrus.
Give this an hour or to breath and revel in the brisk minerality, crisp freshness, and long, mouthwatering finish. This sophisticated white is even more amazing now than it was a year ago and, as Decanter suggests in their 95-Point review, it’ll develop for years to come!
“Donovan Rall began his label in 2008 with two wines, one of which was this. A broad backbone of fleshy Chenin offers yellow apples, limes, into this he ribbons in a flash of green-toned Verdelho, and peach-scented Viognier. Fruit from the Swartland, with a portion of Stellenbosch. Parcels are kept separate, fermented naturally, and aged in old oak and a concrete egg for a pared-back, textural wine that finishes flinty and fine. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2035.”
          - 95 Points, Decanter (3/31/2024)
“The 2022 White is matured 80% in foudres and concrete egg plus 500-liter barrels. The beautiful bouquet brings white peach, yellow plum, lanolin and light resin. The palate is very refined with fine acidity, taut and fresh with a seductive, slightly resinous, phenolically rich finish that lingers in the mouth. Superb. Drinking Window 2024 - 2042.”           - 94 Points, Vinous - Neal Martin (8/2023)
“Rocketing from the glass with citrus essences and underripe peach and pineapple notes, the 2022 White Blend is fresh and complex with dusty floral essences. Medium-bodied and balanced with a delicate mineral tension, the palate displays power and finesse before ending with a spicy, mineral-laced finish and lingering kiss of phenolic bitterness. Enjoy with food. Drink Date: 2023 - 2035.”
          - 93+ Points, Wine Advocate (12/29/2023)
“The Rall white is an 80/20 cuvee of Swartland and Stellenbosch grapes, combining Chenin Blanc with 24% Verdelho and 4% Viognier. Showing some subtle struck match reduction, it displays flavours of citrus, beeswax and apricot, very understated oak spices and surprising weight and concentration for a wine with 12.5% alcohol. 2024-30.
2021 Rall Wines "Rall Red"
Swartland, South Africa
~~~~~~~~~~~
Juicy, lifted and deceptively deep, this multilayered red offers a bouncy feel and a character that evolves in wonderful ways over a period of hours.

Putting out bouncy-yet-complex flavors of dark plum and blackberry fruits with hints of pepper and savory olive, you'll love this 13% ABV, whole cluster fermented red with a little bit of a chill. Primarily Syrah with Grenache, Carignan, and Cinsault, the energy and vibrancy here runs from start to finish, and is even better on day two!

“Released a year later than the rest of the Rall reds to allow the tannins to integrate, this is a serious, structured assemblage of Syrah with 13% Grenache, 7% Carignan and 2% Cinsault. Sappy and grippy, it marries blackberry and damson fruit flavours with understated oak spices and a sturdy, age-worthy finish. 2025-32.”
         - 94 Points, Tim Atkin (2023)

“This is so expressive, exuding black and white pepper, dried herbs, black berry fruit and some sweet tobacco. Medium-bodied, peppery and alive on the palate, with very fine and tight tannins and beautiful tension throughout. Syrah, grenache, carignan and cinsault, each separately whole bunch fermented. Drink or hold.”
          - 93 Points, James Suckling (11/5/2023)
