Legendary 97-Point Napa Valley Chardonnay at Beats-All Price!

 While most Napa luminaries are famous for their Cabernet, it is the miraculously ethereal, mineral-tinged Chardonnay that put Stony Hill on the map.

Today we bring you two wines from this great producer, leading with their 97-Point flagship Chardonnay. Read on for the tasting notes, then hit the Big Green Button to experience their buoyant, singular and beautiful expressions of Napa!

2024 Stony Hill "SHV" Chardonnay
Napa Valley, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
It was the great Chardonnays of Burgundy that inspired Fred and Eleanor McCrea to purchase the land that would become Stony Hill Vineyard. 80 years later, their bright, layered and superbly balanced Chardonnay is still their flagship.
The 2024 vintage captures the brightness, freshness and nuance that this site has to offer in every sip. This is a 97-Point Napa Chardonnay that will make fast friends with lovers of the great whites of Europe!
"Aromas of sliced citrus, wet stones, white flowers, iodine, beeswax, phosphorous and flint. The palate shows a textural, mid-weighted mouthfeel and fine acidity that lead to a minerally, saline and nervy finish. Atypical for Napa, with only a little fruit from the famed Stony Hill vineyards on Spring Mountain. This is a fine chardonnay with 30% malolactic fermentation. Drink or hold."
          - 97 Points, James Suckling (3/11/2026)
"There’s wonderful energy coiled at the center of this Chardonnay, with Meyer lemon, green apple, yuzu, lemon blossom and lime sherbet notes. The structure is taut, with chalky minerality; fresh sea salt and a whiff of tarragon are propelled onto the finish, which shows a lasting impression of power and transparency. Drink now through 2037. 1,512 cases made."
          - 94 Points, Wine Spectator (7/31/2026)
"The 2024 SHV Chardonnay uses fruit from Quartz Creek and Haynes vineyards, with blocked malolactic fermentation, and the result is aged 10 months in 30% new 300-liter and 500 litre barrels. The wine is really bright and energetic in 2024, with citrus fruit, apple orchard character, and toasty cedarwood notes. A crème brûlée character inches in, joined by reductive, flinty notes, with building tension on the medium- to full-bodied finish, ending with crisp lime notes balanced by orange oil. Drinking Window: 2026 - 2040."
          - 95 Points, Decanter (2/17/2026)
Drink now or hold. This is something VERY special. Wine Spectator quotes $60. Median online retail is $50. Our price beats every single online listing.
2022 Stony Hill "SHV" Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
As with the Chardonnay, it is the weightlessness of this wine that really distinguishes it from the crowd. All the classic Napa flavors are here, yet somehow the Stony Hill Cabernet remains fantastically light on its feet. The result? A serious wine that will not overpower your meal!

"The wine shows a distinctly ripe fruit profile, yet remains elegant and compact, with extraordinary focus, precision and tension."
- Decanter Magazine, February 2026

Both awarding 95 Points, Decanter and Suckling write...

"The 2022 wines were produced by Reid Griggs, formerly of MacDonald Vineyard, Dalla Valle and Harlan, and he brings a deep understanding of how to craft great Cabernet. This bottling comes from the top of Stony Hill Ranch. In a tasting with Carlton McCoy and Griggs, they explained that the east-facing ranch comprises three distinct soil types: bright, iron-rich volcanic soils at the top; shale through the mid-slope; and sandstone at the base. This wine is drawn from Cote Rouge at the summit, the most sun-exposed parcel and typically the most opulent. Here, they achieve full physiological ripeness at relatively low Brix. In 2022, the wine shows a distinctly ripe fruit profile, yet remains elegant and compact, with extraordinary focus, precision and tension. The graphite character is pronounced, layered with rich cedarwood nuance, though without the overripe tones one might expect from the vintage. A subtle touch of agave nectar appears on the palate, supported by impressive texture and firm tannin grip. Drinking Window: 2026 - 2040."
          - 95 Points, Decanter (2/17/2026)

"This has a real mountainous feel, a slight reductive edge and a volcanic, earth-driven character, showing dark cherries and plums layered with spices, wild herbs, wet stones and floral perfume. The full-bodied palate offers firmly framed yet integrated tannins, bright acidity and a luscious, taut and nervy finish. 60% fruit sourced from Howell Mountain. Give it some time in the bottle for maximum pleasure. Drinkable now but best from 2030."
