2022 Domaine Font de Courtedune
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Southern Rhône Valley, France

When the influential La Revue du Vin de France published their report on 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the 2022 Domaine Font de Courtedune was quite literally at the top of their list. Awarding a perfect 100-Point rating, they write:

"One of the three great wines from this tasting. I've tasted it and compared it several times with its peers. Each time, the intensity of explosive fruit gives it an unparalleled harmony and scope. A sumptuous wine with notes of blood orange and burlat cherries, with a profound texture that never strays from the finesse of its sandy soil."

          - 100 Points, La Revue du Vin de France (11/2024)

The wines that Caroline Charrier produces at her small, sandy-soiled property in Châteauneuf-du-Pape have flown under the radar for years and, as such, are ridiculously well priced. While the two other wines to earn 100-Point scores in this La RVF report go for $100+, we're able to bring you Caroline's wine for just $42.99. It is a completely bananas price for a wine of such high caliber.

This superlative Châteaunuef-du-Pape, and its Côtes-du-Rhône Villages sibling, are expected to arrive at our stores in April. Given the bonkers quality-to-price ratio, our allocation of this silky, sumptuous CdP will be snapped up in a matter of hours. If you want to grab six bottles or a case, act fast!

2022 Domaine Font de Courtedune
“Vieilles Vignes” Côtes-du-Rhône Villages
Southern Rhône Valley, France
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since taking over the reigns at Font de Courtedune from her father in 2010, Caroline Charrier has been quietly making exceptional Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône that sell for a song.
"Some estates, such as Domaine Font de Courtedune, have grown organically, with major decisions often being made for practical, rather than stylistic, reasons. And the results, from Côtes-du-Rhône to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, could barely be improved upon."
 - Decanter Magazine, August 2022
Barely a larger production than her Châteauneuf, this overdelivering "step-up" Cotes-du-Rhône Villages is assembled from three old-vine parcels across the hamlets of Saint-Laurent and Cassan-Est. Grenache is dominant, with Caroline including roughly 30% Cinsault and 10% Syrah in a wine that has dazzled us in previous vintages with its long mineral-tinged finish, vivid fresh herbal notes, and peppery red and black fruit tones.
There are no reviews yet on Caroline's 2022 Côtes-du-Rhône Villages. Given our experience with the estate, and the HUGE praise for her Châteauneuf, we knew that if we didn't jump immediately, this one would be gone!
