2022 ???? ??????? Chardonnay
Monterey County, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
Pouring a medium yellow with flecks of green and gold, this viscous juice clings to the sides of the glass. On the nose and in the mouth are a combination of citrus, orchard and tropical fruits including ripe lemon, golden apple, pineapple, and papaya.
We have featured many vintages of this wine and are really impressed with the 2022. As the winery famously forgoes stainless steel in the production and aging of this wine, there are no overt vanilla or butterscotch tones. What you will find is plenty of minerality and body - nicely balanced with lively energy and a fresh, pleasing and impressively long finish. We’d easily compare this to a warm vintage Chardonnay from the Mâcon.
At the winery this goes for $18. Our "mystery wine" price is half that amount, and a full 30% below the next lowest listing. Grab a few bottles or a case to drink over the next year, and do it fast. This is going to be gone in a flash!
2022 Anne Amie "Beacon Hill Vineyard" Pinot Noir
Yamhill-Carlton, Willamette Valley, Oregon
~~~~~~~~~~~
The team at Anne Amie made a tiny quantity of this single vineyard Pinot Noir with the intension of selling it exclusively to their wine club members. Turns out they had a few cases left over and we were able to pick it up for a very special price. Today, we pass the savings to you!
Brightly flavored with taut red berries, rain-kissed flowers and nuanced organic earth tones, this soft, tense, structured Pinot Noir has a soft, silky finish that absolutely screams for duck or roasted salmon. If you poured it to us blind and told us it was Premier Cru Volnay, we wouldn’t bat an eyelash! Awarding 93-Points, Vinous writes...
“Darkly floral and youthfully understated, the 2022 Pinot Noir Beacon Hill takes its time in the glass, mixing dried black cherries and hints of clove. It's silky-smooth and refined, with cooling acidity and ripe woodland berries swirling throughout as grippy tannins emerge toward the close. The 2022 finishes structured and long, leaving a primary concentration that lingers under an air of violet inner florals. Drinking window: 2026 – 2036.”
- 93 Points, Vinous - Eric Guido (5/2024)
In their review, Vinous quotes a retail of $65. We bring it to you today for less than half that amount. Only a handful of cases available!
