This $37.99 White Burgundy Drinks Like $90 Premier Cru!
We love the delicious whites produced by artisan Eric Forest. As the eighth generation of his family to farm grapes in the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, he is a highly skilled vigneron bottling luxurious wines that we adore.
Eric’s best wines come from his vineyards in Pouilly-Fuissé, a region that has long been a go-to for Burgundy drinkers seeking friendlier prices than those found in Meursault or Puligny-Montrachet. As prices in Meursault and Puligny and have seen even more dramatic hikes, the comparative value of Eric’s wines is greater than ever.
Earning 93+ Points from our team, Eric's decadent and intensely mineral 2021 "L’Âme Forest" Pouilly-Fuissé drinks like a $90+ bottling from Puligny-Montrachet, and is a hot buy at its typical price of around fifty bucks. Today, thanks to a special buy, we're letting it fly for $37.99.
Check out our notes below for this beautiful Burgundy, and for an equally hot opportunity on Eric's 1er Cru bottling, then hit that Big Green Button!

2021 Domaine Eric Forest "L’Âme Forest"
Pouilly-Fuissé, Burgundy, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
With this stunning 2021 "L’Âme Forest" bottling, a blend from four sites that Eric owns and farms, the lucky drinker will find a creamy texture, ripe citrus and zesty mineral flavors. It's a perfect representation of his family’s terroir and it's a gorgeous bottle of wine.
“'L’ÂME Forest' is the blend of my four cooler terroirs by their East and North exposure: The marls of “La Côte” give the powerful and mineral structure as well as the length in the mouth, while the clay-limestone of the 'Tilliers' and 'Le bois Rosier' bring finesse with notes of citrus and stone fruit. As for the old Carmentrants vines, they add fat and depth. The soul of this cuvée is born from a perfect balance of these plots planted by André my grandfather, cultivated by Michel my father, and taken over by me in 1999.”
- Eric Forest
Forward and sexy with vanilla and plump fleshiness, this 100% Chardonnay gives rich flavors of white flowers, crème brûlée, and baked orchard fruits that run to a decadently long and vibrant conclusion. Deliciously opulent, this serious and classic Burgundy finishes with chalky minerality and incredible length. An excellent alternative to $90 Puligny-Montrachet or Meursault, it rings in on our scale at a very solid 93+ Points.
We’ll go so far as to say this is the best White Burgundy under forty bucks we’ve tasted this year, which makes sense given that the only online listing we could find is at $48. Thanks to some Vin Chicago magic, we’ve got a handful of cases today a this VERY special price. Don’t delay!
2020 Domaine Eric Forest "Les Crays" 1er Cru
Pouilly-Fuissé, Burgundy, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's a five year old White Burgundy from the great Eric Forest, specifically from hand-harvested old vines growing in the "Les Crays" Premier Cru vineyard.
Drinking like a 1er Cru Puligny-Montrachet, this wine is full in body and very deep in flavor, with an array of ripe orchard fruits - particularly pear - along with hints of herbs, baking spices and serious mineral intensity.
“''Les Crays' is a terroir of limestone scree on blue Pliensbachian marl. This south-facing slope of the Vergisson rock, very bright and protected from the cool north wind, produces fatty wines with chiseled minerality and revealing rich and multiple citrus aromas. This cuvée is harvested on several plots planted between 1930 and 1966 forming 2.16 hectares in total.”
- Eric Forest
Plump and fat, this special Chardonnay shows some development from its five years of age, which is fun and adds complexity. 94 points in our scale, it is a fantastic bottle of wine.
Looking online we found a single listing at $70. Today's special price blows that away!
