This 92-Point Artisan Rosé Comes from Sancerre!

This 92-Point Artisan Rosé Comes from Sancerre!

The wonderfully picturesque Sancerre region of France is the “it” place for lovers of intensely mineral, richly textured white wines made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape. Not everyone knows, however, that the growers of Sancerre are also authorized to farm a single red grape, Pinot Noir. And, we particularly LOVE it in the rarest-of-all expressions, Pinot Noir Rosé!

Today, from gifted vigneron Anthony Girard, we present the 2024 Domaine La Clef du Récit Sancerre Rosé. Chock full of fresh fruit, mouthwatering minerality and a zesty, lingering, complex freshness, this beauty has the guts to hang with top $45 Provence pinks, yet sells for over 40% less.

We bring this wonderfully mineral-laden rosé to you today, along with very special pricing on a gorgeously gutsy and quite unique southern French red made by a pair of brilliant Burgundians, Anne Gros and Jean-Paul Tollot. Read on for the stories, then click fast on the Big Green Button while supplies last!

==========

2024 Domaine La Clef du Récit Rosé
Sancerre, Loire Valley, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
This is what Loire Valley rosé is all about! From his one hectare parcel of 40-year-old, high elevation Pinot Noir vines, vigneron Anthony Girard crafts just a few hundred cases each year of this seriously delicious dry pink Sancerre.
Earning an unusually-high-for-a-rosé rating of 92 points from our tasting team, the beauty of this pale platinum pink colored wine will become apparent will just a few swirls.
Flavors of Rainier cherry, watermelon, white pepper and apple blossom are taut and focused, lying atop a bed of Loire Valley saline-accented minerality. Silky, dense and classically brisk, it finishes very long with floral tones, spice, crunchy red berries and a chalky front of mouth grip.
This pure and delicious wine will be a star of your activities all summer long and, should you have a few bottles left, will impress your guests through next summer too.
Looking online, the only listing we could find was $36 at a retailer in London. Even without calculating in the shipping, our price beats that by a mile!
Special Price on Complex Red from Two Famous Burgundians!
2020 Anne Gros & Jean-Paul Tollot "Les Fontanilles"
Minervois, Languedoc, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
What happens when a pair of famed Burgundy growers team up and make wine in an obscure southern French region? Magic!

Partners in life and in wine, Anne Gros (from Domaine Anne Gros in Vosne-Romanée) and Jean-Paul Tollot (of Tollot-Beaut in Chorey-lès-Beaune), have together discovered specialness at their joint estate in the Minervois region.

Made with classic Rhône varietals (40% Grenache, 20% Carignan, 20% Cinsault and 20% Syrah), all from a single walled vineyard ensconced by wild thyme, rosemary and pine trees, their "Les Fontanilles" is magically delicious.

Layered and complex with an authentically gritty sensibility, it shows roasted herbs, smoke, barnyard, dark red fruits, white stones and bright acidity along with medium-plus tannins that make for a serious wine with tons of personality and a certain Burgundian elegance.

Already drinking great, and with room for more development in coming years, this is a solid 92+ Points on our scale. Fans of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and bigger style red Burgundy should not miss this delicious bottle.

Looking online we found no listings for this 2020, but did see a $31 median for the 2022 vintage. Thanks to a little Vin Chicago good timing, we snagged the last few cases of this delicious five-year old red and bring it to you at a special price. Grab a few bottles to drink now and over the next 5 to 7 years!
