This "Incognito" Châteauneuf-du-Pape Delivers For Under $30!
We have something fun and unique today! Made by Domaine Roger Perrin, and bottled under their alternate Maison la Berthaude label, the 2023 Maison la Berthaude "Tradition" Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a special cuvée that explores a pure, unadulterated expression of Grenache from this famous region.
It is a lighter, brighter and more vibrant expression of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir than you're used to seeing, and it is super-tasty. Highly versatile with food, and selling for less than a typical CdP, it will be a very cool bottle to have on hand as the weather begins to warm!

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhône, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
Giving well delineated notes of black pepper, black cherry, red rock earth, exotic baking spice, savory wild game and roasted herbs, this 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is already very accessible and complex.
Crafted primarily with Grenache and raised without the use of any wood, this brighter and-crisper CdP lingers in the mouth with soft tannins and finishes with a dusty red minerality.
Made by Domaine Roger Perrin, and bottled under their alternate Maison la Berthaude label, it is their way of putting the pure character of Grenache from this famous region on display in its purest form. The result is a very fresh wine at a price that is a good bit lower than typical.
Simply put, we are big fans.
While entirely enjoyable by itself, it would be a shame to not have grilled meat on a nearby plate. We’re thinking Provence-style lamb. Good luck trying to resist drinking it all now, but anyone able to stash a few bottles away for a couple of years will be greatly rewarded!
A Rare and Delicious White from the Loire's Saint-Pourçain!
2024 Domaine des Bérioles "Tresaille" Tressallier
Loire Valley, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
All but forgotten, the Loire Valley's obscure Tressaillier grape compares perhaps to an Aligoté from Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise or a lighter Chardonnay from the southern Mâcon. When in the hands of Domaine des Bérioles, a passionate producer farming their own vineyards using organic and biodynamic principles, the result is delicious as it is unique.
Plump in texture like a Viognier with a medium body and soft acidity, it zings with clean and fresh aromas and flavors of cantaloupe, dried pineapple, citrus zest, and honey, all set atop a beautiful background of dried white flowers and river pebble minerality. The overall texture and experience is unique, and quite pleasurable.
We suggest enjoying with baked fish in white wine-butter sauce, roast chicken with lemon and herbs, chilled jumbo shrimp cocktail, fresh shucked oysters, or simply bring a bottle out to the patio at sunset once the weather warms up.
Were this tiny production bottling to come to the US through regular channels, it would cost around $30 to $35. So far, we're the only ones in the US to have this new release, and we are thrilled to bring it to you for a whole bunch less.
A very cool wine here that you will not find anywhere else!
