This Napa/Sonoma Cabernet Is Supposed to Sell for $50. Your Price is $19.79!

Today’s special offer is a Cabernet from the winemaking team at Heitz Cellars. A combination of Napa and Sonoma fruit, it was intended to sell for $50. Thanks to a “repositioning” by the owner, we’re blowing it out today for what looks to be the very best price on the planet!

“Instead of being entirely Napa-sourced, the 2021 and 2022 Cabernet Sauvignons reviewed for this report include Sonoma fruit as well, leading the labels to read 'North Coast.' That said, I have seen the 2021 version discounted at retail to as low as $30 per bottle, which does put pseudo-Napa Cab within reach for many more consumers.”
- Wine Advocate (6/12/2025)

At our bizarre $19.79 price, this is a Black Friday kind of steal. We grabbed a big pile of it, and are letting it fly today while supplies last. Read on for the tasting notes, and for a special 1.0 liter Grüner Veltliner blowout, then click on the Big Green Button to get in on the fun!

2021 Brendel "Cooper’s Reed" Cabernet Sauvignon
North Coast, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
A few years ago, the group that owns Heitz Cellars and famed Margaux property Chäteau Lascombes launched Brendel. Crafted by the winemaker at Heitz, the wines were well received by the wine press. They even opened a new tasting room in Napa Valley. While the wine was good, the project never really took off. They closed down the tasting room and repositioned the wine in the market.
Packed with exciting, authentic, old school flavors, today's bottling, a blend of 2/3 Napa and 1/3 Sonoma fruit, was intended to sell for $50. Thanks to some Vin Chicago magic, we're letting it fly today for just $19.79.
Featuring layered notes of cassis, black cherry, plum, pepper, olive, dusty gravel, tobacco and crumbled red earth, the 2021 Cooper's Reed is soft in texture, with noble tannins and a nice Bordeaux-like character.
On our scale, this rings in at 91 points. Awarding a score of 90, Wine Advocate goes into great detail...
“Made by the Heitz team led by winemaker Brittany Sherwood, Brendel's 2021 Cooper's Reed Cabernet Sauvignon now includes a sufficient amount of Sonoma fruit to carry a North Coast AVA on the label—this vintage is approximately two-thirds Napa and one-third Sonoma, and the blend includes 5% Petite Sirah and 1% Merlot. Still made in old oak vats to avoid overt wood influence and just medium-bodied, it's something of a throwback stylistically. Although the fruit is quite obvious upfront, combining black cherries and blackberries, the wine is streamlined and somewhat restrained on the palate, finishing with ample length, hints of star anise and a silky texture. It's a decent value for a California Cabernet destined for early drinking. Drink Date: 2025 - 2032.”
Clocking in at 13% ABV, this is fun to drink on its own and will be a very welcome partner to grilled meats and vegetables.
One-Liter Bottles of Grüner for $10!
2020 Hermann Moser "Green Eyes" Grüner Veltliner
Kremstal, Austria (1.0 LITER)
~~~~~~~~~~~
The Moser family has been growing grapes and making wine in Austria over 400 years! Martin and Carmen Moser represent the 26th generation of their family to produce wine in Kremstal, just west of Vienna. While they bottle some serious higher tier Grüner Veltliners, it is their fun, every day dry white that we offer here, and we do so at a blowout price!

Fresh in style, with simple flavors of ripe spiced pear, yellow apple, white flowers, hints of white pepper and radish, the wine is zesty and fun with a nice mineral tension. Packaged in a larger-than-normal 1.0 liter bottle and closed with a crown cap, it is perfect for easy summer day drinking.

The flavor and structure allows for pairing with all kinds of fare, ranging from Asian to fish to poultry. Or just serve on its own to guests at your next party. It’s amazing how well Grüner Veltliner ages. You’d never guess this wine was five years old!

We’re a solid 88+ points. Looking online we found listings at $15 and $17. Today, we're letting it fly for just ten bucks!
