For fans of of both Chianti Classico and Left Bank Bordeaux, there is a lot to love here. The critics chime in with these 93- and 94-point reviews...
“The nose invigorates with aromas of tea leaf, tart blackberry, Mission fig, blood orange and tobacco, while on the palate, plums accentuate the fig element even as the overall feel is one of tangy earthiness. Sturdy tannins hold their own against abundant acid.”
- 94 Points, Wine Enthusiast (12/31/2025)
“A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and sangiovese, his wine has aromas of blackberries, violets, graphite and oak. The palate is compact, with chewy tannins and flavors of black cherries and licorice. Medium- to full-bodied. Sustainable. A well-made wine that has longevity.”

2022 Argiano "Solengo"
Tuscany, Italy (1.5 Liter)
~~~~~~~~~~~
“The nose is herbal and earthy, as aromas of wild fennel and blackberries sparkle above a foundation of top soil. On the palate, tea leaves and bergamot accentuate the blackberry note, before a salty, juicy burst of seawater washes in on the finish, carrying citrus and wild strawberries with it. A buoyant, delicious wine.”
- 96 Points, Wine Enthusiast (12/31/2025)
“This wine shows bright and precisely defined aromas of cassis, leaves and raspberries. Jammy notes are supported by crisp acidity and a full body, with toasty flavors and elegant tannins. Drink or hold.”
- 94 Points, James Suckling (6/13/2025)
“The 2022 Solengo slowly evolves in the glass with a collage of crushed blackberries, dried rosemary, shavings of blood orange and graphite. It's silken in feel, displaying amazing density offset by a crunchy core of minerality and riveting acidity that further enhances its tart wild berry fruits. This finishes with hulking structure, leaving edgy tannins to mingle with blackcurrants and a cascade of violet inner florals, while tapering off with staining length. Bury this deep in the cellar. The 2022 Solengo is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot, 20% Merlot and 5% Sangiovese. Drinking Window: 2029 - 2042."
2020 Argiano Brunello di Montalcino
Tuscany, Italy (1.5 Liter)
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Ripe berry, blue flower, Mediterranean scrub and wild aromatic herb are just some of the aromas you’ll find on the fantastic 2020 Brunello from Argiano. It’s elegantly structured, full-bodied and delicious, delivering mature Marasca cherry, ripe plum, baking spice and licorice framed in firm, fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Drink 2028–2035.”
- 96 Points, Kerin O’Keefe (11/2024)
“The nose is defined by the warm sweetness of mocha, toasted sage, orange peel and sweet, ripe blackberry. On the palate, black cherries accentuate that blackberry note, before a wave of super tart citrus swells alongside searing acid to lift the finish. Brunello is always good, but sometimes it's also exciting.","(9/24/2024) A little tight now, with cherry and cedar character on the nose and palate. Plenty of flowers as well. Medium-bodied and crisp, with firm tannins that are all together. There’s energy and brightness to this. Give it two or three years to open. Drink from 2027.”
- 96 Points, Wine Enthusiast (12/31/2025)
“The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is decidedly savory and intense, with notes of tobacco, wilted violets, dusty earth and ashen stones. It flows across the palate with ease, drenched in primary concentration, soft-textured and round, offset by a core of tart wild berries. A tinge of spice slowly saturates the nose toward the close, tapering off staining and long, with a balanced tannic inflection that promises many years of balanced maturation. Drinking Window: 2026 - 2036.”
- 93 Points, Vinous - Eric Guido (11/2023)
“Here's a nicely balanced Brunello that boasts bright cherry fruit intensity despite the many years of cellar aging required by the appellation. The Argiano 2020 Brunello di Montalcino offers a robust layer of red and purple berry fruits along with soft spice, grilled herb and sweet potting soil. There is a slightly botanical element to the wine with green herb and dried lavender. The wine is made with fruit from old and new vines, ranging in age from 12 to 55 years old. The tannins are very fine-grained, and the acidity is present to good effect but is not too sharp. This is an ample 104,000-bottle release. Drink Date: 2025 - 2038.”
- 94 Points, Wine Advocate (11/21/2024)
“From six parcels blended after fermentation in cement and aged in 30- to 50-hectolitre oak casks, the 2020 estate Brunello is an absolute charmer. Exotically scented, it leads with spiced persimmon, arbutus bush and heady lavender. Hints of sea and sand are redolent of the not-so-faraway Tuscan coast. Appetising and accessible, the palate is packed with glossy, almost candied fruit, and there is a fullness of flavour without being heavy. Fine, powdery tannins dissolve fluently, exposing a juicy core of succulent blood orange. Impossible not to like. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2034.”
