Up to 95 Points of Zinfandel Deliciousness from Turley!

Up to 95 Points of Zinfandel Deliciousness from Turley!

When it comes to California Zinfandel, there are just a handful of wineries that can be counted as iconic or legendary, and none of them compare to Turley.

“Year in, year out, this is one of my favorite tastings anywhere in the world, as the wines are so vivid, so imbued with the essence of place.”
- Antonio Galloni, December 2024

The remarkable array of deliciously pure, terroir-driven reds crafted by Larry Turley and his team are in a class of their own, particularly when price is factored in.

What makes Turley's wines so good? Simply put, it's the vines. When a winery's "Juvenile" bottling comes from plants up to 25 years of age, it's pretty clear something quite special is going on. When their (sub-$30) Cinsault comes from vines planted in the year 1885, any remaining doubt is erased.

Today we bring you three OUTSTANDING Turley Zinfandels along with the aforementioned Cinsault from gorgeous 137-year-old vines that may be the very oldest planting of this varietal on the planet!

Read on for the details, then click fast on the Big Green Button to get your order in. As is always the case with Turley wines, supply is limited.

2023 Turley "Juvenile" Zinfandel
California
~~~~~~~~~~~
Looking for a summer time Zin for grilling? Ribs? Chicken thighs? Pulled pork? This is the wine! On hot days, try popping the bottle in the fridge for 25 minutes before opening. As “entry tier” bottlings from California’s other famed Zin producers have risen in price, often quite dramatically, this wine remains a truly remarkable value.
What Turley has to say:
Exuberant and expressive! Classic Zinfandel spice, brightly fruited and well structured, delightfully juicy and just downright delicious. Dark raspberry, blue fruits, soft tannins, and deeply pleasurable. This wine punches so far above its weight it’s in a class of its own.
What the critics have to say:
“Brimming with verve, this Zin offers fresh flavors of black cherry, raspberry, briar patch and savory pepper that end with snappy tannins. Drink now through 2033. 20,000 cases made. Smart Buy.”
          - 92 Points, Wine Spectator (8/31/2025)
At its typical $30 price, this hugely pleasure-giving red is among the best Zin bargains you'll find. At our bonkers-low price, it's even harder to resist!
2022 Turley "Del Barba" Zinfandel
Contra Costa County, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
A pristine, single-vineyard Turley Zinfandel at a perfect price, the 2022 Del Barba really hits the sweet spot.

What Turley has to say:
Hailing from head-trained vines planted in the deep dehli blow sands of Contra Costa. Engaging on the nose, with lifted aromas of dusty ripe red fruits, gingerbread spices, pomegranate, overall bright and lively. A rapturous wine with an utterly vibrant texture on the palate. Just downright delicious.

What the critics have to say:
“Sourced from head-trained vines planted in 1980 on sandy soils, the 2022 Zinfandel Del Barba Vineyard is a light, elegant and approachable expression of Turley's substantial Zinfandel collection. Medium ruby in color, it is initially coiled and opens slowly into a bright, inviting nose with aromas of Earl Grey tea, licorice and red cherries, albeit with slightly less definition and clarity than found in other bottlings. The palate is medium-bodied, deeply red-fruited and lined with spicy, floral accents. The finish is long and perfumed, framed by clay-textured tannins and lifted, juicy acidity harnessed with an understated elegance. Drink Date: 2025 - 2035.”
          - 93 Points, Wine Advocate (6/13/2024)

This is just the second vintage of Turley's Del Barba Vineyard bottling, and the price-to-fun ratio is really terrific. Jump on it now before the word gets out!

2022 Turley "Dusi Vineyard" Zinfandel
Paso Robles, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
Talk about vines! While many of the older vines in California, and around the world for that matter, have gone through periods in their life where they have been abandoned and rediscovered, the pristine plantings of Dusi Vineyard have been lovingly maintained for their entire life. This is a very special wine, from a very special place. If your travels ever take you to Paso Robles, something that we highly recommend, try to swing by to take a look at this vineyard. You need to see it to really understand how special it is.
What Turley has to say:
Planted 1945 and still farmed by the Dusi family. Fragrant, ripe red fruits at the forefront, with lift, energy, and approachability. Raspberry preserves and a hint of chocolate on the palate, with a luscious, velvety, prolonged finish.
What the critics have to say:
“A seductive Zin that's rich and polished yet handsomely structured, with detailed flavors of raspberry, cranberry, roasted sage and loamy white pepper that end with big but refined tannins. Drink now through 2035. 1,732 cases made.”
          - 95 Points, Wine Spectator (5/31/2025)
Median online retail is $55. This legend of the vines is worth every penny.
A Turley Red from the Oldest Cinsault Vines in Existence!
2022 Turley "Bechtold Vineyard" Cinsault
Lodi, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
Drinking a good bit lighter than the Zinfandels, this is a REALLY cool wine. Offering a punchy, bracing character, it really is in a class by itself. We love the fact that such a unique wine, made by a cult producer like Turley, from some of the oldest vines on the planet is available for such a fantastically accessible price.

What Turley has to say:
Planted in 1885, this Cinsault vineyard is certainly the oldest of its kind in the United States, and perhaps even the oldest Cinsault in the world! A light-bodied red grape, Cinsault (pronounced SAHN-so) is usually found in the south of France as a component of Châteauneuf- du-Pape in the Rhône Valley, or consumed as rosé in Provence. The Bechthold Vineyard vines are gnarly, head-trained, and dry-farmed in deep, sandy soils. They’re also ungrafted, meaning they remain on their original vitis vinifera roots that were first planted 136 years ago, a phenomenon nearly impossible to replicate today. The wine is light- bodied with fresh, high acidity, almost akin to a Gamay or a very light Pinot Noir. It’s fermented using only natural yeasts and aged in 100% used French oak.

What the critics have to say:
“The 2022 Cinsault Bechthold Vineyard comes from the oldest Cinsault vines in existence, planted in 1886. It has a pale ruby color and bright aromas of red cherry, cranberry, allspice and autumnal hints of leaves and earth. The light-bodied palate is soft and juicy with generous, crunchy fruit and a satisfying, spicy finish. Drink Date: 2023 - 2028.”
