2021 Paolo Scavino "Bricco Ambrogio" Barolo
Piedmont, Italy
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Showing the fantastic aromatics this site is known for, you’ll find enticing aromas of iris, dog rose, wild berry, forest floor and menthol on Paolo Scavino’s radiant 2021 Bricco Ambrogio. This MGA always has softer tannins out of the gate than the estate’s other cru offerings and the stunning 2021 is no exception, delivering succulent flavors of ripe Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry, blood orange, mint and licorice alongside polished tannins. It’s beautifully balanced, with fresh acidity. Drink 2029–2041.”
- 97 Points, Kerin O’Keefe (2/2025)
“Permeated with cherry, pomegranate, earth, wild herb and iron flavors, this rich red is dense and powerful. Firm, chalky tannins ply its depths, leaving a solid grip on the finish, yet the fruit is ripe and the aftertaste long, with sweet fruit returning at the end. Best from 2027 through 2048. 800 cases made, 250 cases imported.”
- 96 Points, Wine Spectator (8/31/2025)
“This shows balsamic, sandalwood, rose petals and a touch of red fruit on the nose. The palate is tight, with precise chewy tannins, tight fruit and a compact finish. A solid, exceptional Barolo that will need about three years to soften.”
- 97 Points, James Suckling (1/20/2025)
“The 2021 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio is classy and polished to the core. This wine has come such a long way since its debut. Enrico Scavino really believed in this site when he purchased it a little more than 20 years ago. The 2021 is a fine testament to his vision. Lavender, sage, menthol and licorice lead into a core of dark-toned fruit in a Barolo that is deep yet also light on its feet. This is impeccably done, not to mention very tasty. Drinking Window: 2028 - 2041.”
- 95 Points, Vinous - Antonio Galloni (1/2025)
Wine Spectator quotes a price of $100. Median online retail is $70. Massive value here, and our handful of six-bottle cases will go quickly!
2021 Paolo Scavino "Monvigliero" Barolo
Piedmont, Italy
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Vibrant and boasting great intensity, the compelling 2021 Monvigliero from Paolo Scavino mesmerizes with aromas of wild rose, menthol, blood orange and dark spice. Firm and elegantly structured, the delicious palate delivers crunchy red cherry, strawberry compote, pink peppercorn and licorice before a minty close. Close-grained tannins provide support. What a gorgeous wine. Drink 2033-2046.”
- 98 Points, Kerin O’Keefe (2/2025)
“This red is all about finesse, its silky texture a foil for cherry, raspberry, floral and mineral flavors. There's a solid base of tannins and lively acidity driving the long, fruit-filled aftertaste. Even now, this is charming and harmonious, with complexity and class. Best from 2028 through 2045. 600 cases made, 200 cases imported.”
- 95 Points, Wine Spectator (8/31/2025)
“This has aromas of tar, violets, cherries, orange rind and a touch of aniseed. Medium- to full-bodied with a firm tannin structure that seems to recede toward the finish. The fruit is juicy, tender, pretty and refined. It should be more evident once the tannins mellow out. Exciting. Better from 2030.”
- 96 Points, James Suckling (1/11/2025)
“The Paolo Scavino 2021 Barolo Monvigliero needs extra time in bottle. It reveals aromas of dried flower, rose, powdered licorice and cola. This expression is not as immediately floral as Monvigliero can sometimes be. In fact, this wine offers more heft and structure than I anticipated. It has a pretty quality of tannins, firm and chalky. The vineyard is measured at under one hectare in Verduno with southeast exposures on Sant'Agata Fossili Marl soils. Production is 4,300 bottles. Drink Date: 2026 - 2045.”
- 95 Points, Wine Advocate (6/19/2025)
Wine Spectator quotes $125 for the magical 2021 Monvigliero. Median online retail is $95. Our supply is very limited.

2021 Paolo Scavino "Ravera" Barolo
Piedmont, Italy
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Paolo Scavino has knocked the 2021 Barolo vintage out of the park and the firm’s Ravera is another impressive showing. It opens with alluring aromas of ripe dark-skinned fruit, iris, menthol and star anise while the delicious, full-bodied palate delivers succulent Marasca cherry, raspberry tart, licorice, cinnamon and crushed mint. Tightly woven, velvety tannins provide seamless support while fresh acidity keeps it vibrant and together they give the wine a weightless concentration despite that belies its impressive structure. Drink 2031–2041.”
- 98 Points, Kerin O’Keefe (2/2025)
“Rich and saturated with cherry, plum, earth, tar and iron flavors, this red is muscular and bursting with energy. Tightens up on the finish, yet there's plenty of fruit and complexity, with great balance and a lingering aftertaste. Best from 2030 through 2050. 500 cases made, 150 cases imported.”
- 95 Points, Wine Spectator (8/31/2025)
“The 2021 Barolo Ravera captures all the signatures of this site. Iron, white pepper, sage, mint, chalk and red-toned fruit all grace this sculpted, vibrant young Barolo. I especially admire its energy and tension. Clean mineral notes support the bracing finish. Readers should plan on cellaring the 2021 for at least a few years. Drinking Window: 2028 - 2041.”
- 95 Points, Vinous - Antonio Galloni (1/2025)
“The 2021 Barolo Ravera has a jeweled ruby hue and is gorgeous and pure on the nose, with aromas of raspberry liqueur, sweet tea leaf, pressed flowers, and fresh sage. It’s elegant and refined on the palate, with a seamless and even feel, silky, ripe tannins, refreshing acidity, and a long, graceful finish. It’s a fabulous wine to taste now but offers a wide window for enjoyment over the coming 20 or so years. Maturity: 2025 - 2045.” - 96 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (5/1/2025)
Wine Spectator quotes a price of $120 for Scavino’s glorious 2021 bottling from the famed Ravera vineyard. Median online retail is $99. Only 150 cases were imported to the US, and we are thrilled to have a few of them for you.
2021 Paolo Scavino "Bussia Vigna Fantini" Barolo
Piedmont, Italy
~~~~~~~~~~~
“The newest addition to Paolo Scavino’s already impressive Barolo lineup, the 2021 Bussia Vigna Fantini is another drop-dead beauty from the estate. Hailing from a vineyard the family purchased in 2018 where the previous owner had planted different clones of Nebbiolo including the Rosé variety, it’s intense and fragrant, opening with heady scents of rose, iris, cake spice and menthol. Full-bodied but boasting a weightless concentration, the enveloping, delicious palate doles out raspberry compote, ripe Morello cherry, licorice and vanilla before a minty close. Velvety tannins provide seamless support while fresh acidity keeps it well balanced. Drink 2031–2041.”
- 98 Points, Kerin O’Keefe (2/2025)
“A super-fresh and elegant Barolo with leafy lightness, red currants, watermelon, licorice and a touch of sweet violets on the nose. Slight sweetness on the palate, with a lot of minty flavors, a full body, fresh acidity and quite firm yet velvety tannins. Great overall harmony, with a savory aftertaste and a lavish finish. Approachable even now, but will age nicely.”
- 98 Points, James Suckling (1/9/2025)
“The Scavino family bought this site in Monforte d'Alba in 2019, and this is the newest wine added to the portfolio. The Paolo Scavino 2021 Barolo Bussia Vigna Fantini has a lot of fruit freshness with raspberry and wild blueberry. From a cool site at 370 meters above sea level with southwest exposures, the soils are rocky with loose sand. The family describes this as their "botanical garden" because it is a vineyard that sees a lot of experimentation with clones and rootstocks. They say that the learning curve with Bussia was great and they needed a few years to understand how to best draw out its character (fruit from leased vineyards in Bussia previously was blended into the classic Barolo). This wine delivers a floral bouquet with violets and lilac. The tannic structure of this wine is different in that it results in full-bodied, rich and velvety sensations. Drink Date: 2026 - 2045.”
- 96 Points, Wine Advocate (1/30/2025)
“Dark plum and blackberry roll in first, layered with violet, licorice, and a cooling thread of mint. It's the kind of wine that fills the room before you even take a sip. The palate is rich and enveloping, yet a streak of acidity and savory lift keeps it agile. Tannins are firm but polished, offering structure without weight. From a newly bottled voice in Bussia, Vigna Fantini arrives not with hesitation but with confidence, showing the kind of layered complexity that suggests it's been part of the conversation all along. A bold, beautiful opening chapter. Drink from 2027.”
