Wonderfully Distinctive Alpine Red from Tiny Husband and Wife Winery!
Some of France’s greatest wine secrets hail from the Alpine region of Jura. Best known for their wildly distinctive whites, which we adore, the reds from Jura are equally as fascinating and, to us, every bit as delicious, especially the one we’re featuring today!
“Tucked away an hour due east of Burgundy with the Alps looming close by, the Jura evokes pre-technological agrarian France in charming fashion: cows seem to outnumber people, tourists are few, and the wines from these undulating foothills are beautifully idiosyncratic and singular.”
- Neal Rosenthal, Importer
The 2023 Domaine Pêcheur "Cuvée des Trois Cépages" Côtes du Jura Rouge is an equal parts blend of Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau: the three red grapes of the Jura. Imported by Jura specialist Neal Rosenthal, this distinctive wine is pale in color with a lovely collection of red fruit and earth flavors, and an absolutely sublime texture.
What class! What elegance! What a cool wine! If you’re looking for something a little bit different, scroll down to read our notes, or just click to place your Big Green Button order. And do so quickly, our supply is VERY limited!

Côtes du Jura, Jura, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
Christian and Patricia Pêcheur, and now their son Maximilien and his wife Jeanne, organically farm a small bit of land in eastern France, specifically in the magical, rolling Alpine foothills of the Jura. Trained in Burgundy, they craft wonderful whites and this red for which we fell head over heels.
As its name suggests, the "Cuvée des Trois Cépages" is a blend of three grapes, Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau. Pouring a translucent ruby with hazy viscosity, the wine is immediately interesting - it actually looks different! In the mouth, you will most likely respond with an instant smile as its silky texture glides across the tongue.
Fresh red berry fruit flavors, including strawberry, cassis and tart cherry, are complemented by just-opened black cherry blossoms, baking spice, red earth, mineral crunch and subtle herbal tones. The wine lifts the palate with soft tannins and a very long, pleasure giving finish.
The overall theme of this artisan red is wonderfulness, and we believe it will be especially enjoyed by lovers of Burgundy, Northern Rhône Syrah and traditionally-styled Tuscan reds. We’re a strong 93 Points.
Drinkable now and over the next 5 to 7 years, this is a wine lover’s wine, ideally partnered with grilled salmon, lamb or chicken. Or, because it’s so lovely, you may want to enjoy all on its own!
