What We Think
Vin Chicago: 97 Points
(8/2025) Sought by passionate Tuscan insiders for years, the quietly famous wines of Cerbaiona have gone through a remarkable transformation, starting with the sale of the property in 2015. Helmed by winemaker Matthew Fioretti, the wines today authentically represent their spectacular Montalcino terroir, as they always have, but the newly embraced phlisopohy towards modern precision is, as far as the traditionalist-leaning palates of Vin Chicago are concerned, entirely welcome. This gorgeous wine is a perfect example. Stylized without pretense, this is what modern Brunello is capable of! Silky and sophisticated, this wine is incredibly compact, with beautifully pure Sangiovese fruit, Montalcino earth and an elevated winemaking structure that must be tasted. This is the kind of Brunello that converts staunch traditionalists into modernists - its Chambolle-like allure is impossible to resist. If you're not falling in love with this wine, we're not sure we can help. Glorious!
