(9/2023) This story is awesome. Several years ago, Pieter Walser participated in a wild experiment at his winery where he had a clinical psychologist come in and measure his blood oxygen levels, heart rate, eye reactions and brain waves while doing barrel tastings. The grapes he reacted to the most favorably he blended together and created the Orbitofrontal Cortex white. Now, we can't hope to guess what Pieter tasted, but we got plenty of apricot, nectarine, salinity, beeswax and limestone, all on a deceptively unctuous, alluring palate. Fantastically complex, this is a transcendent wine. Refreshingly crisp, it makes you really think. Fantastically complex, this is one of Pieter's best wines.

(9/2023) 'The barrels I like', is how Pieter Walser describes the selection process for this Chenin Blanc and Verdelho based blend with 46% Clairette Blanche, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne and a soupcon of Viognier. Lightly skin fermented, it has top notes of wild flowers and wet stone, citrus, pear and grapefruit flavours and a finish that lingers on the palate. Delicious. Drink: 2023-2029.
