(5/2024) The northern Greece region of Macedonia is home to one of the best wineries in the entire country: Kir-Yianni. Focusing on the native Xinomavro grape, second-generation grower Stellios Boutaris bottles different bottlings, including this 'Cuvee Villages' red, a pale colored offering that gives light red berry fruit, hints of dried flowers and earth, and a structure that is both fresh and mildly grippy. Drinking a little bit like a red from Sicily's Mt. Etna or even a simple Red Burgundy, it is a super friendly partner to all kinds of table fare.
